FWIW, I have been an avid woodworker for 35 years. Here's a tip for table saw newbies - If you need a "super accurate" saw, stop looking at bench top style saws or anything else where the blade is mounted directly onto the motor. Direct drive will NEVER be "super" accurate. Pretty good? Sure, a well...

Do not buy

I bought this saw about 3Yrs ago and have only used it out 6-8 times and the motor gears have chewed up. I used it for  lite home projects only, no heavy duty jobs. If it is only supposed to last this long I would not recommend it to anyone and I buy a lot of craftsman tools. I would give it a 1 star...

My dad and I had a full size craftsman table saw , but after his death I didn't have room for it and sold it. Being a home owner I found a need for a table saw. I did research and found the craftsmen portable to be the best money could buy. Whom ever designed the saw did a great job. the storage, the ease of set up, the extensions is great, thank you!

Nice, basic table saw

Having done a few too many projects where a table saw would have been handy to have, I decided to invest in one. As an occasional user, my concerns were more along the lines of being able to store the thing reasonably. This seemed to be the best combination of something-that-didn't-feel-like-junk and golly-gee-it-has-a-folding-stand-built-in. The folding stand by itself sets this thing apart from most other saws I considered. It's a great idea. We simply don't have the space to store a conventional stand, and the ones that can be disassembled would tend to discourage use of the table saw for small... read full review »

Not too bad for the money

I received this table saw as a gift from my wife. It is my first table saw and for the most part I like it. The dust port where I can use the included bag or a shop vac works well. The easy setup and teardown is a very nice plus, everything included will attach to the unit. Even with the included blade it is plenty powerful enough, I have cut through thick maple with no problems. The only thing that could use improvement would be the accuracy of cuts. The sliding miter table is nice, but I had trouble making accurate cuts from it, even when using a square to set it. The table has some slop, and... read full review »

This portable table saw is a high value performer with a strong suite of features and ease of use.  I've been building amateur level cabinetry (murphy bed, bookshelves, tables) in my garage.  The sliding miter table works flawlessly (although the markings for the guide are off slightly - 2 degrees - and requires checking before each use) and is a good feature.  The fence attaches easily (yet the markings are off by 1/16") and holds firm - parallel to the blade.  The blade height adjusts easily - the tilt is fussy and the scale also off by a couple of degrees.  I really like the pull out extensions...

portable, but inaccurate!

I have owned this saw for about a year and it has done well for basic home remodeling tasks. However, I found out the hard way while building some cabinets that this saw is just not accurate enough for high quality carpentry. The rip fence is ok (as long as you use your tape measure to set it), but the miter is a joke. It jiggles around easily and can be off a few degrees in either direction. The portability is nice (which is why I chose this model) but if you are doing anything where accuracy counts, cough up a little extra dough and get a better saw!!

Table Saw

I like the sliding miter table feature of this saw, but you are limited to working on the left side only since there is no miter bar on the right side. The blade angle adjustment is very inaccurate and difficult to set. The adjustment on my saw is froze up at this time and can't be used. A very poorly designed saw.

Stay away

Since I've purchased the saw 7 months ago it has gone through two motors. Stay Away!

The table saw is a good starter, my first.  It has done everything I need it to do.  The biggest con is the non standard miter slot.  It only has one on the left side and it is unlike anything out there.  All featherboards will have to be custom made which could be a challange given the small width of the slot.  I have just been clamping mine down to the table with 3 clamps and not even using the slot.  The portability is why I bought it and that is 1 thing craftsman did well.  It stores very well.  You shouldn't be trying to cut full 4x8 sheets with this of course its going to rock alittle. ...

Reliable, Sturdy & Great Value

I bought this saw in March 2008 and it has been a consistently reliable performer through heavy use and a fair amount of abuse. It has lived outside most of this time as I used it to construct a large patio roof and other projects. I usually park it under a canopy and/or cover with a tarp when not in use, but it has been rained on a few times and constantly exposed to SE Texas humidity. I've cleaned and oiled it but it has continued to perform like new with no other maintenance or repairs. It's had enough power to handle anything I've thrown at it. I've ripped pressure-treated 2x12s and turned... read full review »

I am really disappointed in this saw.  All the feature including stand are wonderful, HOWEVER the reason I ultimately want a saw for, this product will not achive. A clean percise square cut. After all the complex adjustments to the sliding miter and setting the blade angle at zero, the finish cut edge is never square up and down or back to front. Too much play in the sliding miter. Sears usually makes great products........ I am returning this saw.  Sorry but don't buy this saw if you hope to make quality projects.

excellent table saw

I have had this saw for about two years. It has performed beautifully. Everytime I use it I can't help but marvel at the ease of setting up and taking down and the accuracy of the fence and sliding miter. Even with regard to the low price of this saw it is amazingly accurate and very light to pickup for transport. I highly recommend this saw to anyone who doesn't need a ultra big, extremely accurate shop type saw.

Great Table saw

I recently purchased this saw as my first ever table saw after reviewing several others online and friends. I am very pleased to find that it does everything claimed and is very simple to operate. Also it will setup and take down in less than a minute. I recommend it to everyone who is looking for a simple to use and when stored takes up very little room in the shop. I have a friend who has a craftsman professional table saw and he's impressed with how well the saw performs and plans to purchase one for it's portability.

Disappointed

First off let me say that this is the first table saw I have ever owned so I really do not have anything else to compare it to. I bought this saw for 215 on sale after waiting and waiting for the right sale. The saw looks really good, the miter sled is really cool, and the saw is really portable which are some really good things about the saw. The bad things are that the blade did not come square from the factory. I spent 3 hours this past weekend trying to square it but have not been successful. I will try again this week. The fence is a joke, also not square, but will the blade not being square,... read full review »
