Craftsman 16Gal Detachable Wet/Dry Vac Has the power and ease of use to handle the really tough and sloppy jobs. The only negative so far is an error of judgement on my part. I purchased the Wet/Dry Vac to help clean up a dusty, wet basement with mouse droppings everywhere. The vac handled the job no Problems what so ever. The problem that did arise is that Im a typical male and tend to buy the biggest and the best and found that for the vast majority of jobs around the house a smaller vac would of worked just as well. I forgott that even though it can hold more water and garbage I have to still empty it and with my disabilities that poses a problem. I highly reccomend this vac and will write a review later when I have used the blower.

It's everything anyone should expect and want from a Craftsman Vacuum of this HP and size. As far as the winers who say they have problems with the lid, they must be either rival salesmen of Craftsman or morons who just need something to cry about, because the weight of the engine alone is enough to keep the lid on securely, unless you're dragging the vacuum around like a blithering idiot. I have one suggestion for anyone buying this vacuum. If you're going to purchase this particular vacuum, then you're already spending a fair amount of cash for a powerful vac. If you've ever owned a Craftsman Vac then you already know that their most flawed item on these vacs is the 6 ft hose that they all come with. That has even gotten better over the years, the swivel is a lot better than it used to be. So as I was saying, if you're going to buy such a powerful vac, do yourself a huge favor and get the 10 ft accessory hose ( the higher quality grey one) that comes with or without certain accessories....

Outstanding suction, the 6.5 hp motor really delivers. Haven't used the blower yet but I'm sure it will be very good. The silencer keeps the noise unbelievably low for a shop vac with a motor like this one. The lid latches are a little flimsy, and it doesn't seem like the lid is all that snug, but when you turn the vacumn on it basically clamps the lid down. Also I wish it came with a brush head, they are useful for cleaning out the car. But, when it's all said and done, Craftsman did a fantastic job with this one. Great suction, usable storage for the accessories, and good caster wheels, not to mention a very clever way to give you a leaf blower as well. Nice job guys!...

This is the 3rd Craftsman 16 gal, 6.5 Peak HP, Detachable Wet/Dry Vac that I have purchased in the past 10 years and it is very evident that the quality of the components used to construct this item have decreased dramatically since my first purchase. You would think the name Craftsman would reflect an ever increasing quality and value but no. The few $ that Sears saved in using cheaper plastics has convinced me that my next purchase will not automatically be Craftsman. There may or may not be a better alternative but in the future I will spend the time to research before spending my hard earned $....

Very pleased with the power of this vac. Price and discounts online were fantastic. Shipping was fast and free. One suggestion, I really wish there was an accessory to use with the detachable blower for a full powered mini vac (venturi and bag). Would for sure recommend this for anyone.

This is great all year long holidays and all weather there are kids around or not it's great to clean any mess big or small wet or dry even if you have a water back up you have a great tool to help you. When you have company over one of the kids make a mess just grab the kraftmans wet dry vacuume . It's quick simple and anyone can use it . This is an excellent vac/blower. It has exceeded my expectations. There is a small problem with the tank and lid not sealing, leaking dirt and dust from around the inner lip between the two. It can be fixed easily using weather seal inside the inner gap under the lid. I do not know why it didn't have a seal there, but my local sears looked at another vac "same model", and to our surprise, it had no seal either. I did fix mine and it has worked perfectly since...

I bought a shop vac for my husband a few years ago. It really works great. My only problem was not getting the information out of the box before he misplaced it. Will probably get another one soon.

Our family room & basement flodded with 6 to 8 inches of rainwater. Once the fire company pumped most of the water out we ran this vac virtually non-stop all weekend. I expected to see it go up in smoke before I moved on with ripping out the carpet, padding, etc., but it's still going strong.

I live in the country where there are no sidewalks to alleviate the sand and dirt. I have numerous birds (poultry) on my property that not only bless me with lots of feathers but copious amounts of bird droppings. Because I am an Organic Farmer, I must be able to remove these "gifts" to compost them for use in my fields. I usually have to blow these gifts off my porches down unto the ground for pickup.

Incidentlally, the blower also comes in handy for removing the unusual amount of falling leaves we have had this hot dry summer.

I was impressed with the suction of this vac in the beginning. Quickly loses suction if used on anything but small jobs. My real problem is with reliability. The motor began to whine within first month and unit was replaced under warranty. Second unit ran well under occassional use for maybe six months. Then blower wheel broke. This part was out of stock for months before I could replace it. Once up and running again I used vacuum about a dozen more times before the bearings in the motor went south renderring the vacuum to the junk pile. Sears want $88.00 for the motor on vacuum that cost $99 new when on sale. I feel the Craftsman name just isn't what it once was. Almost every Craftsman product I have purchased in the past 5 years needs the manual +parts book to keep it going. Without a local Sears parts store, shipping costs get old quick.

Original vac was a Christmas present that had a bad motor winding---manufacturer's defect. No question asked swap for new unit, which works great. Yeah, it's a little bulky, but I knew that going in. 'Really like the detachable blower, which increases the versatility.
