After purchasing and returning several other mowers I have finally decided to stay with this honda powered Craftsman. Originally I purchased a True Honda mower "Honda powered and Honda deck" but the side discharge being available on the Craftsman model was what finally made the decision for me. This Mower is great it has plenty of torque to cut smoothly on the first pass, even in thick and overgrown grass... I like the front wheel drive and it is not to "finicky" so its easy to control the "wheel spin" that usually ruins the yard. Bag size is quite large compared to others and the mower is actually...
read full review »I received this lawn mower as an early Father's Day gift. So far, so good. I initially had a little trouble starting the mower, but then I learned how the automatic choke worked. I wasn't pulling it all the way back. After that, no trouble starting at all. Starts very easily. I am pleased with the power of the Honda engine and the power assist moves the mower along at a good pace. It handles hills well and the dual drive levers are great. It's very convenient to be able to use either hand or both hands to grip the drive lever(s) depending on the circumstances. I've had both...
read full review »Craftsman-Honda-powered 22" mower started on first pull but...when the self propel handle was depressed the mower wouldn't move. A very simple (no hand tools) adjustment of the cable length fixed the problem and all is well. There is no prevision for gas preservative in the gas cap. Perhaps this should be addressed in future models of this type.
I bought this mower because of the Honda engine and the reputation that the name carries. I took it out of the box and added the oil and gas and it started right up. The next day I went to mow the yard and the mower would not start. After several tries it finally started but it sputtered and it had very little power. I took it back to Sears and exchanged it for the same model thinking I just got a lemon. I took this one out of the box and it started up just fine and I didn't have any problems with it not starting. However, after using it only 5 times the front propelled feature stopped working....
read full review »i hate mowing the lawn especially up hills but this self propelled lawn mower makes it easy to go up hills and i mow the lawn in half the time than with a push one.
I purchased this unit which had been returned and never used.
I got it home added fluids and cut the entire 1/3 of an acre that night.
Very quiet engine and a well built frame.
Excellent mower that is very easy to set up and has very nice features that make mowing a pleasure. The engine is very easy to start up and the grass bag opening makes emptying a quick task. Startup was also easy when the mower was warm.
One thing to note is that Sears provides 30W oil with the mower, but the book recommends 10W-30 which is the same as I use for my car. I have heard that 10W-30 is better for the honda engine, so I used the 10W-30 in lieu of the 30W supplied with the mower.
So far, I am very happy with this mower and am looking forward to many years with the honda engine,...
read full review »So here is a novel concept; when you pull the string the mower starts. Every time! The Honda engine is what makes the difference. I will never buy another B&S engine no matter what mower its attached to. This engine has a large gas tank and after it sat all winter in my shed I pulled it out yesterday and the most amazing thing happened... it fired right up. Money well spent friends. If you want a mower that works like its supposed to then buy this one. The large rear wheels and huge bag opening are awesome too. The hight adjustments are so easy my kids can do it and the self propelled feature...
read full review »Honda is a great name, the mower works well, its pulling power I'm NOT pleased with. I"m still PUSHING this self propelled mower , Finally a rear wheel came off,Sears won't refund my money, but will repair, Now I am Stuck
Waste of time.
Save your time, energy and patience.
I purchased this lawn mower on Monday. Added oil and gas on Wednesday for my first attempt at using my new POWERFUL Honda engine and it wouldn't start. I took the mower back to Sears on Wednesday for a credit. Fortunately that didn't have another of the same type in stock.
I decided to buy a Honda mower instead. Much more expensive but my peace of mind also has a value which isn't measured in dollars. The warranty period for my Honda is 6 years and in todays standard that speaks to better quality.
Lawn mowers are a gamble at best...
read full review »After much anticipation of getting a new mower, we ordered online and picked this one because of the Honda engine and the attractive price. Needless to say, it was a ENORMOUS disappointment. I loaded it up with oil and some gas as instructed and double checked everything, including the oil level, to make sure everything was in place. Started it after a few tries and off I went. Within a minute, it started smoking. I had read that a little smoking was normal in the beginning but this was huge puffs of smoke coming out of it. I also noticed a liquid spraying out the side. Needless...
read full review »I bought this mower March 2009. I have had no problems with the mower. The mower starts with the choke on with only one pull of the starter handle. The mower cuts through tall grass and weeds with little problems. The only negitive thing I can think of about this mower is, the wheels are a bit cheaply made. Mine are working fine put are slightly bent and look crooked.
I have had a Murry Mower lasted 2 years, had a Lawn Man with a Briggs and Stratten engine lasted 9 years, I wait and see how long this Craftsman with a Honda engine lasts???
