The following are the reasons I bought this product

It is easier to check how full the bag is, be able to take it off, and put it back on

You can hook up a hose to the lawn mower to clean it

I have owned a hoda before they work great and hold up over time

The following were some of the improvements I found over other lawn mowers I have had

There was almost no need for instructions to assemble the lawn mower

All the bolts and screws were lock tight type insuring they wouldn't back out when you use the lawn mower

the pins that raise and lower the wheels a very simple to use

I purchased this mower because of Honda's general reputation for quality. The choke did not work properly from the start. The choke will not stay in start position. It ran for about a minute before quitting. It wouldn't restart. I have returned it for service. I am very disappointed, given Honda's good reputation as a company....

Wheel height adjustments are junk and just fell off a couple of the wheels. Rear drive has failed after two summer seasons of use and this mower is too heavy to use without the drive on a hilly lot. Cheap slippery wheels. Look elsewhere.

I've been using this mower now for about four months and it's working great. First, I wanted an engine with a manual choke, which the Honda motor has, and dual self-propelled handle pulls. The rest of the mower is pretty standard. It has plenty of power to mulch typical yard grass and always starts on the first pull. I always wear gloves so the bare handle is fine for me. The speed is not overly fast but correct for mulching, which is what I use the mower for most of the time. It also works well with the bagger. People complain about the plastic wheels, which I don't understand because every mower in this price range has plastic wheels and they work fine. My last Craftsman with plastic wheels and Tecumseh engine was still running great when I gave it to my son after using it for almost fifteen years. I expect this Honda-engine mower to last just as long.
...

I don't recommend any mower in thick root base grass that is front drive. This mower tends to bog down and stall when it gets into grass that is very dense. With the wheels set at #5 (7 is the highest) I end up having to PUSH it rather than it pulling the mower of me.

Have only mowed 4 times but have some feel for the quality. Good to great. It has a choke which automatically resets. This is a nice feature but I still have had to pull the cord more than 1-2 times half the time I use it. It is always easy to start, just not on the 1st or 2nd pull.

Engine is powerful and I rarely bag until the leaves fall so I can't comment on bagging. It does tend to shoot debris out from under it even with the side chute in place (plastic cover over side discharge). I do mow with the blades at a higher level than most so I may be experiencing more than you will if you keep it down for shorter blade length.

Only weakness noted is the weak pulling power of the front wheels. Another reviewer said this can be adjusted and I will look for that next time I take her out. It is ok but sometimes needs me to lift the rear of the mower to get good traction. Wheels are nearly "bald" brand new (no traction tread). The larger rear wheels do not make it hard to turn at all. I replaced...
...

I thought it to be a very wise decision to go for the extra money and purchase the best mower with the Honda motor .
Unfortunately this Craftsman mower appears to be under powered. I have a small yard (20x20 My lawn while is nice, I have to cut the lawn twice each time. To elaborate as well, a single pass with this mower just doesn't cut it'! A substantial amount of blades, i had to push, front wheel just turning around and no propelling to advance.
The mower is also challenged in trying to pick up whatever blades of grass it does cut. . Unfortunately, the mower leaves behind a substantial amount of cut blades. I attribute both of these situations to either a machine design flaw, or an under powered motor.
Very disappointing

I had to restart the motor like 3 times motor stopped, and to start again pull starter more than 6 times ,the references I received is from customer service Honda is easy to start up. More like Honda don't want to start. The motor religiously takes 6 or more pulls......

I thought it to be a very wise decision to go for the extra money and purchase the mower with the Honda motor over the same unit with the Briggs & Stratton mower. I own (2) other yard machines with Honda motors and have had good luck with them.

Unfortunately, this craftsman lawn mower is a rather different story. This Craftsman mower appears to be grossly under powered is the short story. I have a small yard (100 x 100 in full). My lawn while nice, is far from golf course quality. In order to get a decent cut on the lawn, I have to cut the lawn twice each time. To elaborate; a single pass with this mower 'just doesn't cut it'! A substantial amount of blades are simply pushed over and not cut. It is only after a second pass that all blades of grass get cut.
This mower is great. I went into a sears store to look at mower and came across this one. Everything that I was looking for in a mower. It cuts great and very easy to start. The only thing I didnt care to much for was for the Handle (because it doesnt have padding) and it being a front propelled. I was really wanting a rear propelled mower but after talking to the sears guy I bought this one because what he said make since. He told me that by going front propelled it would be allot easier to move around trees and things because you could just pick the front up and wouldnt have the rear propelled wheels tugging as you mow. The honda motor is the best hands down....

Of 50 plus reviews it's about 50% for and 50% against. I think complainers post more frequently that people with praise. This mower is OK and I would not steer a friend away.

This one has the features I was seeking including front wheel drive, but was missing a non-corrosive deck. I dont feel like paying a fortune $200 to $400 more to get a composite deck, so I bought this. On sale with other discounts, a great deal at about $325.

Thoughts:

= Starting: It took a few pulls to get it started - very disappointed. Once it started, it started on first pull after each bag emptying. I will update this if it is not easy to start as not starting easily is intolerable to me.
= Power: Fantastic. This Honda is more powerful than my Toro B&S. This never stalled in longer grass that would always choke the Toro, even when Toro was new.
= Handling: Front wheel drive is different. It seems harder to run a straight line than with my super mulcher RWD Toro ($579 in 1996). I'll get used to this. S/b no......

Not a bad mower, but certainly not enough power! Bogs down when cutting on lower settings through thick, lush grass. I had a Craftsmen mower before in the same price range (if not cheaper) with the Briggs and Straton motor and it had a lot better power and rarely bogged down. I have yet to have it start on the first or second pull, but it does start easily by the 3rd or 4th pull and is not a big deal. The tank is small, but plenty of fuel to mow my 1/4 to 1/3 acre lot with one tank. The handle is not at all comfortable, and not sure when someone would use the variable speed. I have it squeezed all of the way down (full speed) and it is not very fast. No need to ever let up on the handle to slow down the mower speed - just another unnecessary (sp?) feature. Also, this mower has a slot between the mowing deck and the motor that let's clippings and dust come through when mowing in mulch mode. It does a nice job mulching when on the higher (taller) setting. I'm not sure I like the......

The Craftsman 160cc 22" High Wheel was actually the second mower I bought that weekend. The first one had a bent deck and my local Sears store happily exchanged it and recommended that I upgrade. What a great upgrade!! I have never used a more "user" freindly mower. This unit is extremely easy to use with the adjustable speed control and high rear wheels. I use commercial mowers often in my occupation and find the Craftsman 160cc 22" Honda High Wheel Rear Bag Mower just as good or better in some instances.

I would recommend this mower to anyone who is in the market for an easy to use, extremely capable machine. The price was good on sale, but the machine is qutstanding!!
...

I bought this mower last year and I believe I made the mistake. Self propel in this mower is very bad, it hardly moves itself. It requires a lot of effort to push it which should not be the case. I used my brother's TORO Self Propel lawn mower which is in a similar price range and there is a huge difference in self propel.

I would not recommend this mower.
...

I added this mower as a back up to my Bob Villa model Craftsman mowers. It runs well, handles well, uses same amount of gas and oil as Briggs and Strattons that are on my BVs. Uses slightly longer spark plug. Cleans up easily. First Pull start.Let cool after stopping. Love the automated Choke. When engine is ready to mow it just gears down and the Choke slides to run position. The only thing I would change, is to make the bag (for cut grass) larger and find a better way to attach it. It also blows dirt from the connection to the top lid. I originally bought a new model Craftsman and did not like the less powerful engine. This one is just the right size for residential yards 100x150 and smaller. I recommend this mower for any yard less than a quarter acre. Good Value for the price. I use this mower to mow on a daily basis when BV is being serviced or is down. It is a Beast that can handle normal Texas Native Grasses well..does not cut soft thin blade grasses as well ,as it does Bermuda......
