Really Nice Machine

5 star rating

Really a nicely built machine. Of course, the 17 H.P. Briggs & Stratton Engine is a marvelous power plant, my last lawn tractor had a 12 H.P. B&S Engine and, with proper maintenence, it's still running after 21 years. The larger battery should provide sufficient starting power for several seasons when compared to the earlier motorcycle type batteries. The mulching blade was a snap to put on and the associated discharge blocking plate just snapped into place. What a great price, my earlier 1988 MTD tractor was $850; What other major purchase has only gone up $150 in the last 21 years ? The one potentially negative aspect is reliability, it is far more mechanically complex than my 88 model which could potentially lead to more repairs over the years. The extended repair warranty may be worth the money if your not mechanically inclined ! I guarantee that one drive belt change would justify the cost of the warranty !
