Craftsman 17.5 hp 42 in. Deck Lawn Tractor — 

I just bought this tractor to replace my old Craftsman of 11 years. Well, the first two days with my new tractor I had to level the deck, tighten bolts, grease fittings and place cotter pins where there was none. I never had to do that much work on my old tractor in 11 years. SO, I TOOK BACK THE NEW ONE, GOT MY MONEY BACK AND BOUGHT PARTS FOR MY OLD ONE. MY OLD ONE IS QUIETER AND A BETTER RIDE AND AM GLAD I DECIDED TO RE-FURBISH IT. MY NEXT MOWER WILL NOT BE A CRAFTSMAN BECAUSE THEY ARE CLOSING THE LOCAL "SERVICE/PARTS CENTER" IN MOLINE, ILLINOIS

citybears1's is right on the money with this review. I also bought this same tractor last week. The deck has no wheels thus scalping the lawn is very common even on the highest setting. Plus it is very difficult to operate with all the levers and key movements to go forward and reverse. The other thing is the mower stalls every time you get off the seat whether your in neutral and park and the blade disengaged! I am also taking mine back because the machine is nowhere near what was advertised!!!!!
