After using this snow thrower for the first time, I was impressed how easily it cut through the 4 inches of snow in front of my home. It did struggle with the pile the street plow left at the end of my driveway. When looking at the rubber augers after the first use, I noticed considerable wear. When starting it for the 3rd time, the rope did not fully recoil. This was enough for me to take it back. I spend only $100 more (with a 10% off coupon) and bought the 2 stage 24inch Craftsman. Overall, the 179cc single stage was a decent machine for light to medium snow falls, but I would spend the extra $$ and invest in a machine without the rubber augers and bigger clearing path.
