It snowed about 6" today in Metro Detroit and I was sick of shoveling. I first went to the "orange" store and guess what: "All sold out sir. Maybe check back in a week or two." So I hop back in my vehicle and drive to my favorite store [Sears] and the guy says he's got plenty in stock. Same price, 4-stroke, electric start and compact... All the things I'm shopping for. [way to go Sears!]
Now, I picked this unit because it'll fit in the back of my Jeep Liberty with the handle collapsed so I can drive across town and work on the in-laws driveway & my sisters place. Plus, I don't need a huge snow thrower for the western side of Michigan. I was very happy to see a 4-stroke machine at this price point. I will really enjoy not mixing my gasoline and oil.
I did follow the previous reviewers tip about greasing the chute gear to make everything move a little smoother. I didn't try to use the chute prior to the grease, I just went ahead and put some marine wheel grease on it before I started it up. So thanks for that tip.
The auger chews through about 8" of snow no problem and does a very good job clearing your driveway / sidewalk.
There is good distance on the throw and the chute has a good range of adjustment so you can really put the snow where you want it to go.
The rear wheels could be a little more helpful when you are pulling the machine back up the driveway, but I won't drop the rating just for that.
I didn't have a problem pouring gas into the "middle" tank. I like that there is a float to help tell you when the tank is full.
Overall a very good light duty machine that turned a 1 hour [shovelling] job into a 20 minute walk.
