This gas snow blower might work for those that receive only 2 to 3 inches of snow per snowfall. Living in South Dakota, I shouldn't have tried this snow blower in the first place. Since Sears did not have their $599 best buy model and any other models in the $600 too $800 range in stock, I decided to give this a try. In my first opinion, I thought this blower was very cheaply built with plastic parts. Started just fine with electric start. When I tried it on some powdery 2" snow area, it cleaned it nicely. But when I tried it on about 6 inches of snow, it just wouldn't move a bit and I had to...

Purchased 1/28/2011. Machine works nice ! Easy to assemble and started right up. Electric start is nice. Pull starts easy when warmed up (haven't tried pull start when cold yet). Live in Westchester NY and had 15" of wet, heavy snow and the **** thing threw it 15-20' ...
Wow, this snow blower made quick work of the snow this winter. I wasn't too happy to invest that kind of money in an item I wasn't sure we would be using. We got our money's worth out of it this year.
I bought this snow thrower on-line because it wasn't available locally (it is not quite winter yet). I HIGHLY recommend that NO ONE buy large equipment items on-line and have it shipped to them. Mine arrived with broken and missing parts. UPS does not handle these items with any care or regard of the contents.
Go to the store and buy the item there. It will save you a ton of hassle, and about an hours worth of your time with having to deal with support in trying to resolve the situation.
I'll post another review after I use the snow thrower for the first time.
I have to say that I was pretty skeptical after reading some of the poor reviews. But considering this was one of the last snowblowers available in Maryland and I have a driveway that is on the smaller side (35' x 50)I bought it. It started on the first pull and I don't ever see the need for the electric start.
It powers through snow as long as it is less than 10 inches high. When I woke up to 16 inches, I was able to shovel a path down the center of my driveway and then just take smaller bites with the auger and it did a great job. It throws the snow a good 30 feet if it is of the lighter...
