I bought the Craftsman 18" chain saw about 10 months ago.  Since then I've done a lot of tree trimming.  The Craftsman is powerful, light-weight, and just the right size for my needs.  I appreciate the safety features, the ease of operation, and the quality of the product.

I had a different brand...

This 18" Craftsman chain saw is a piece of junk.  They should replace the craftsman with crapsman!  We have owned it for a short amount of time and have only used twice. It lacks power to cut, you are limited to small logs or branches.  The first time we used it, it did okay, but wouldn't cut very... read full review »

Incredible

TOOL FOR A LIFETIME

Craftsman tools can not be beat.  You could look the world over and never get the quality or guarantee that you will get from a Craftsman.  From my experience with these tools, they can guarantee them because the quality is such that they are durable and will last forever.  Whenever I purchase a tool for a grandson or son-in-law, I don't even look at other brands, only Craftsman.  I know they will be thrilled to get them as a gift and it is a gift they will have forever.

Recently bought an 18" Craftsman chain saw.  I was skeptical because of bad ratings.

The price was right and it comes with a 2 year warranty so I figured I'd give it a try.

I was very satisfies with the quick start and power to take down 3 good size trees.  I realize I have only used it once, so quality is good and reliability I can't fully rate at this time.  At his time I would give it a high rating compared to the much higher price brands I have looked at.

When I was faced with the daunting task of removing an acre and a half of forest in order to start my taro farm, the Craftsman 18" chain saw did the job--above and beyond what I expected.  I was very impressed by its performance, reliability and durability even on bigger trees with 2 feet plus diameter trunks.  I have since recommended it to many friends.  Thanks, Mike Rodrigues (Maui, Hawaii, USA)

My name is David Prasad and I have used the Craftsman 18" chain saw for over 15 years! Living in the country I use this product to cut down dead trees or to remove unwanted trees. This chain saw cuts fast without bogging down and it stays running smooth at an idle. I would recommend the Craftsman 18" chain saw for anyone wanting to cut through trees fast and clean.

avoid this one

I purchased the cheapest sears chain saw and am very unhappy with it. It is IMPOSSIBLE to adjust the chain and very impractical. Don' go cheap - buy a more upgraded version.

The best chain saw ever!!

This chain saw, can do anything.  I have used this product from basic tree trimming to cutting down a dying Pine in back yard.  This by far, along with the Craftsman warranty Is the best saw you can buy.

This chain saw is easy to work with but lacks a little power.

I brought this craftsman chain saw for my husband. He love it. Cuts great.

I purchased an 18" Craftsman chain saw years ago and let my brother borrow it.  He put straight gasoline in it, instead of mixing two-cycle fuel.  I immediately replaced it with another identical 18".  I've used other brands and sizes but the Craftsman 18" did everythind I needed a chain saw to do.  To change the blade and/or adjust the blade is very easy with the side adjusting screw witrh the flip down handle (no srewdriver needed).  It's not too big and awkward.  It's not too heavy.  The weight is all you need to make good clean and precision cuts.  This helps prevent accidents when...

I've had an electrical Craftsman that I've used for over 10 years for tree trimming mainly. It has worked great. When a neighbors 20" DIA tree was leaning on my property, I got permissionto bring it down but new the small electric wouldn't be enough so I shopped for weeks. In the end I settled for the Sears 18" Chain Saw for its price, size, weight, and name. I did not go wrong. The unit worked as advertised and made the job go quick. Graduating from this I moved to do larger jobs and that is cutting logs for firewood. Again, it has tackled the work with no issues except for cleaning the interior...

After we experienced the ice storm here in upstate NY in December, our back yard looked like a tornado had hit it....trees and limbs down everywhere! With the help of our Craftsman 18" Chain Saw, our backyard should look as good as new by the spring. I only hope our neighbors go out and buy their own, we're getting a little tired of being the "good Samaritans" and the tree service guys who are trying to make a living aren't too pleased with us either. Well, we couldn't find a generator during the storm, but having the craftsman 18" chain saw for clean-up afterwards has made it a little less painful....

Good for Home Use

I purchased this 18 inch Craftsman chain saw in Sept of 07. I got tired of paying someone to cut up medium trees that were being toppled after storms. I had previously used a 14 inch electric but it was just not powerful enough for all but the lightest jobs. The Craftsman 18 inch starts easily if you follow the instructions. If you already think you know how to start a saw and fail to follow the instructions you will have a hard time starting it. Saw cuts well as long as you keep the chain sharp. The fastest way to dull a chain in to touch the ground with the rotating chain while using it. I would... read full review »

The Craftsman 18" Chain Saw is the easiest and safest chain saw I have used.

Starting is fast and easy and you can't replace a chain any faster or adjust the the chain any easier. I recomend the saw to anyone who occasionally has the need for a chain saw.
