Craftsman 18" Push Reel Mower —
I'm really pleased with this mower. I actually look forward to using it each week! Here in SoCal we are having a drought and can only water for 10 minutes three days/week. This mower has actually saved my lawn. In fact, I have the nicest lawn on the block. This is due to the razor cut and also leaving the clippings in the lawn. The clippings protect the roots from the sun and the razor cut doesn't stress the grass, like a rotary mower.
The mower isn't perfect - you don't get the vacuum effect which picks up leaves, like a rotary mower, the mover will occasionally leave a bit of grass standing uncut (takes a second pass), and the reel is offset from the wheels a few inches which means you can't cut close to walls, etc.
I also purchased a set of cordless tools (trimmer/edger, hedge clipper, and blower) to go with the mower. So now I don't burn a drop of gasoline taking care of my lawn. Over the course of a year, I estimate the gasoline I saved doing yard work would enable me to drive my car almost 800 miles! (Next year I'll be purchasing an electric car and be done with gasoline for good!)
