where can i get the hardened plastic that secures the blade between metal and blade.

By your description, I'm not sure specifically which part you need but take a look at the diagram and you can order all the parts from there. I think numbers 29-32 are in the area you should be looking.

Good news. The parts are still available through Sears Parts Direct (not in stores).

There's the substituted 243102-02 Grass bag for $17.99, plus shipping.

And, if you are missing the whole bag assembly, the 242500-02 for $25.49, plus shipping.
