Awsome mower! Purchased this because I can't start a regular pull mower. This starts wonderfully easy. We mow about 3/4 acre and this thing eats up the grass with ease. I am a 62 year old female and do not walk real fast but you just hang on and go with this machine. One caution, tie the key to the handle before mowing the first time, It will run without the key in the key hole. We lost it the first time out, evidently Sears has had this happen before because my Sears parts store carries them is stock, $4.95 We also own a Black and Decker battery mower and love it but this thing is so much easier to use because of the front wheel drive. We have flat bumpy groung and we are looking to buy another one and get rid of the other 3 push mowers that we have.

Handeled tall, thick grass and overgrowth with no problem. Starts real easy and runs great, and has a large gas tank compared to other push mowers that i have used. So easy to use that even the wife will get out and use it.

This is the second Lawn Mower I've ever owned. After 7 years My old Craftsman Mower decided it had kept my yard beautiful long enough. I decided to go back with another Craftsman Mower, I must say i made a great decision, this mower moves! All I do is walk behind and guide it. It cuts with precision and keeps movin., This mower makes have a beautiful yard fun, and the drive control makes it effortless!

The variable speed on this lawnmower is not variable.... its either so slow the front wheels just spin or is fast. I went for the FWD system for ease of turning the lawnmower around, boy was I wrong. There is no weight on the front wheels so the wheels just spin unless you push the lawnmower. which in thick or tall grass you need the to go slow to get a good cut on your lawn and with this lawnmower the front wheel drive is worthless. I really liked the ez start very nice option. easy for the wife or kids to start.

Im a loyal craftsman consumer but this product just doesnt cut it. I took it back and exchanged it for the rear wheel drive lawnmower model # 37454.. Its a very nice craftsman product really like the ez walk system its what i expected from craftsman

I purchase Sears products due to their longevity. In this economy we look for quality and sears fits the bill. I know both my new pressure washer and mower will last me for at least 10 years. Sears backs up their products and I consider them a staple in my home

I have no idea why they decided to switch from rear to front-wheel propelled. The natural action when going uphill is to push down on the handle. This lifts the front end, causing the front tires to loose traction. I have to retrain myself on how to mow my lawn!

It does work well on flat yards - it does not go too fast. It is also excellent at starting.

Finally, saving money on production can go too far. The side discharge attachment doesn't really attach. It hooks on and comes off any time you hit something. They could have made it a bit smaller, with much stiffer material, and actually clip on so that I don't have to stop the mower every three minutes to put it back on.

I have only used my mower twice since purchase...it is easy to use, starts on the first pull, no primer. It works well on all my hills and slopes, can get done in less than half the time.

The side discharge has fallen off both times while mowing, so not sure if it just isn't locked in right.

I do run out of gas before finishing, which didn't happen with my old mower, so that is not a plus with a smaller gas tank.

So far it is a plus, turns easy, speed controls are great and easy to use, and I am a female, and it doesn't require much effort, and the hose attachment to flush it out after mowing is a great added feature!

I liked our mower for the first 8 months, then it stopped working properly. It would work for 5 mintues then stop working. We had a two year warranty on it. Sears gave us a new mower today, hopefully this one will work better.

I bought this mower in september of 2009.It worked ok for 5 or 6 times then this spring it worked fine 3 or 4 times .Then the belt started to come off.I replaced the belt and it worked 4 or 5 times then off it came. I took it in and they replaced the belt and it worked4 or 5 times then off came the belt.Also back guard got stuck under mower and got chewed up.They replaced the guard and the brackets.In it went again and they took it to melrose park chicago to fix.Back it came to me with no side shute and the belt guide bracket screw holes still stripped out and nothing was done for the belt comming off.So in it goes again and we are with out a mower again.Very bad service and bad mower design.Dont buy one!

Here's the straight scoop:

1. Brought it home and set it up - 10 minutes

2. Filled with gas and 1 pull...I'm cutting the grass - 5 minutes

Wheel adjusters are excellent, bag and other attachments seem solid.

One complaint, the propulsion on the front wheels does seem to slide and the speed control bar doesn't seem to have a lot of variability. That gives this mower 4 stars instead of 5

So far, so good...

Bought this lawnmower for the main reasons of it being a craftsman and having a briggs engine...they arent like they used to be...this lawnmower is pure junk, engine bogs and dies on any patch of thick grass, the front propelled plastic wheels do not grip the grass all they do is slide so you have to push this thing along or it wont go...the belt popped off 3 times and the 3rd time it popped off around the steel guides that keep the belt in place with no way to get the belt back on unless I took the pulley assembly apart...so I returned it and yes stupid me got a replacement instead of a refund and brought it home only to have the belt pop off again and the engine was making a really funny noise... so to end this story the lawnmower went back to sears and I went to ***** for the troy bilt with honda engine and rear wheel drive, best lawnmower I have used in the last 10 years, nice cut and the 160 gcv honda engine is strong!

This season I replaced my 15 year old Craftsman Eager 1 mower with this model. I like it a lot, the bagger is much much easier to use and the variable speed self-propelled system works nicely too. The high wheels make it easy to turn around and it is very easy to mow with. I do need to develop calluses on my hands, it seems to rub my hand between my thumb and pointer finger where my previous mower didn't and tends to hurt a bit. Also, it runs out of gas much more quickly than my old mower, I used to be able to mow my whole yard 3 times with the old one, this one only once. Other than that, it is a great machine.

I also like the deck washing system, it makes it easy to keep it clean.

I bought this mower on 4/2/2010 and have had no problems whatsoever. I read several problems with the belt coming off but I have had no problems. It is similiar to my old Craftman high wheeler which I was very happy with for 13 years of hard use. The only areas I would like improved are a larger gas tank and a belt guard. The belt is exposed to the grass clippings underneath which may explain the belt coming off for some.

I have owned a craftsman lawn mower(model #917.377330)for a number of years. I recently experienced breakage of the molded plastic cover which protected the drive belt and gear box. When your parts department told me that part was no longer available I decided it was time for a replacement. On May 15 I purchased a Craftsman model # 917.376406 at my local Sears store. The design improvements on the new unit are very impressive:The cutting height adjustment is a major improvement, the rear bagger design is much better with the bagger door staying open, the handle height adjustment is much better, the mulching pllug being a part of the rear door is good, no priming of the engine is a nice feature. All things considered, the new design is well done and I look forward to using the mower for several years.

The Craftsman 22" 190 cc Rear bag, rear high wheel, front propelled lawn mower has the easy start feature which makes it easy for my wife to start the mower. The high rear wheels help with turning and pushing when not using the self-propelled feature. Over-all, as my first self-propelled mower, it's been very good.

My 14 year old mower finally shot craps and I was excited at the prospect of now being able to justify buying a new one. My wife said that if I would get a self propelled model, she would take her turn mowing. How could I refuse.

However, I still heard the faint warnings of my father oh so many years ago who warned me that self propelled mowers were nothing more than a pain in the neck and they never worked right. He said they were always in the shop and the technology just isn't there. That was 20 years ago. Sadly, he is gone now, but his wisdom lives way beyond his years.

I bought this model after researching several others only to find they weren't in stock at our local Sears store. This seemed to be a close fit to what I was looking for.

After loading it in the car, I took it home and set it up as my lawn was starting to become the talk of the neighborhood and was swallowing little children.

The mower started after about 3-5 pulls which was ok as it was brand new and...

This was my first lawnmower purchase in 15 years, after living in apartments. Wanted the 7hp model, but it didn't have the features I wanted. This is by far the largest-horsepower mower I've used, and I LOVE IT! It starts like a dream every time, the height adjusters are fantastic, and the wide-mouth bag and the Posi-Lock bag system have been especially helpful to me. I was a bit worried about reading where the plastic guard could be eaten off after just a short time, but I haven't had it happen to me yet.

I've only used the mower twice, but I think this is going to be one I keep for years to come. Despite my concerns it would move too fast for my taste, the self-propelled feature has actually been a major help to me; I've tried using the mower without it, and it's almost like trying to push the Queen Mary with a speedboat...not happening! Use the self-propelled if you buy this mower!

All-in-all, a mower worthy of the name Craftsman!
