Good compressor for the money.

Craftsman 2 gal. Air Compressor with 17 pc. Accessory Kit —

I purchased this compressor on a post-Thanksgiving sale for $79.99. I got it home, unpacked it, and put it together in no time. Assembly consists of screwing on an air filter and putting oil (supplied) into the crankcase. The accessory kit was also a snap to put together, consisting of a blowgun, tire inflator, plastic self-coiling hose, and various connectors. They even supplied a spool of teflon tape to seal the connectors, which I thought was a nice touch. I bought this compressor because my Porter Cable pancake model was much too loud for comfort. It was an oilless model. This unit is about half as loud, being that it is an oil filled model. It has excellent quality vibration dampening. You can talk (loudly) and still be heard in the same room, which absolutely does not happen with my other machine. As others have said, the plastic coil hose is the only weak item in the kit. If you only buy this kit to inflate tires and basketballs, you can use the supplied hose; otherwise, know that you will have to buy a good quality rubber hose and you are all set! The tank capacity is 2 gal, which is a trade-off between weight and size and capability. I plan to tote it around to various tasks and use the onboard 2 gal tank; when it is in my garage it will be hooked into my shop plumbing which includes a 5 gal auxilliary tank. This will allow the unit to cycle on and off less often. It is stated in the manual that this unit is meant for a 50% duty cycle (operate no more than 30 minutes per hour). It seems that this unit will work well for the needs of the hobby shop, running a couple of small nail guns and whatnot. Overall, the fit and finish look good! So far, I am impressed. It's a great value for the money.
