“Power Hog”
I bought the craftsman 33 gal, 2 hp vertical compressor to put in my shop 3 years ago. I've followed the break-in procedures according to manual. I have approximately 4 hours on this unit. I was using it at my fathers house doing home repairs and it tripped a 15 amp breaker. I finished the job with 1.5 hp Chinese made compressor. Trying to trouble shoot the problem, I went to my sister's home a block away and plugged it in and it tripped another 15 amp breaker. I went home and plugged it in to a ground faulted 20amp outlet and tripped this breaker due to the compressor not turning over. The motor on this compressor has a start and run capacitor fixed on top of the motor. Due to the warranty expiration, my next option is to get a family member, who is a certified electrician, to get a read out on the amperage used to start and to keep this unit running at low pressure and high pressure and to check for capacitor faliers.
NOT A HAPPY CAMPER
