I needed a good compressor for working on my car in the garage. I needed one with a fairly large capacity that worked off 120v and this fit the bill nicely. I was a bit apprehensive when I read the reviews regarding it's noise level and tendency to trip circuit breakers but I decided to give it a try.... review »

This compressor is ok. It is very loud, however. It is almost too loud to be standing next to it without ear protection. Apparently, this loud noise is often associated with the non-oil lubed compressors. Power is excellent. 8.6 cfm at 40psi, and 6.4 cfm at 90psi is outstanding. Unit is heavy, though.... review »

I bought the craftsman 33 gal, 2 hp vertical compressor to put in my shop 3 years ago. I've followed the break-in procedures according to manual. I have approximately 4 hours on this unit. I was using it at my fathers house doing home repairs and it tripped a 15 amp breaker. I finished the job with 1.5 hp Chinese made compressor. Trying to trouble shoot the problem, I went to my sister's home a block away and plugged it in and it tripped another 15 amp breaker. I went home and plugged it in to a ground faulted 20amp outlet and tripped this breaker due to the compressor not turning over. The motor...

I've had the compressor about 1 1/2 years and have used it for air tools, automotive paint spraying and general shop use. It's worked as advertised and held up well but... Takes a long time to recharge. When using a HVLP spray gun, it's running constantly and lastly it's very loud. Consider ear protection when using this unit in your garage where you are working. The 1/2" air impact gun supplied doesn't have much torque and will struggle to remove most larger nuts/bolts. The units CFM won't keep up with a die grinder causing you to let it charge up every few min. This can't be good for the compressor.... review »

I bought this compressor because it was rated to suit the needs of a homeowner using it for mechanic work and other misc. homeowner applications. I set it up and let it go through the break in period as required and then began to let it cylce to the cut off point. I let it cycle once and then it started to trip my circuit breaker. I had it on a 15 amp circuit all throughout statup and breakin and it worked fine. It now continues to trip the breaker. I even tried it on a 20 amp circuit and it tripped that. I see a similar post with this issue on this site. A technician is supposed to come out and... review »

Bought it today and returned it today. Compressor tripped the breaker every time it turned on. Supposed to run on a 15 A circuit- kept popping 20 Amp breaker. Unless you have a dedicated line- don't waste your time. Also- it took me 5 minutes to purchase and 45 to return! Staff really didn't want to bother with me.

I have only 31 hrs of time on this compressor. THe motor shaft snapped into and you can't purchase the motor only. It takes replacing the whole top section at $200.00. The staff won't help you find the part or give any information.

This worked great...for 2 or 3 years. Then the motor fried. Just because it'a Craftsman, doesn't mean they'll fix it. One year is all the warranty you get. Spend less and get a cheapie. It can't be any worse.

Coming from a mechanic with 20 years exp.,this item would not even stand up to light use, let alone normal use. The quality is just not there!!!

Not too bad of a compressor.  When I am using an impact gun constantly or an air drill it is constantly running.  It does not catch up as fast as I think it should but for the money it is not a bad deal.  The Craftsman 33 Gal air compressor is a great deal if you are not using it in a shop every day.  Great for the occasional user.

I bought this about 2.5 years ago mainly to support a custom motorcycle paint business that I have on the side. It is LOUD! Now I use it mainly for support in my little machine shop, I only run it about once every couple of weeks because it's loud. The rest of the time, it stays unplugged due to excessive loudness. Lately it has taken longer & longer to trip the pressure switch, so now I get to hear it for twice the time as before... Did I mention it's loud? It also now trips the breaker (15A) often before it's full. I looked into it's innards to see what could be done & found some good reasons... review »

Been looking at this compressor for a number of years and finally pulled the trigger this weekend. It came with the ten piece pneumatic tool set, and got 10% off on top of that due to the on-line sale they were having. Around $308 total. I brought it home and did the break-in as directed. It was a little noisy, but not too bad. (Almost as loud as a gas mower) It reached 150psi after awhile, but cut-off there as it should. The tools work great and the 33 gal tank allows me to use my rachet and impact driver at full bore for a good while before the compressor cycles. (90psi) Overall rating I gave... review »

the reviews on this compressor that were bad are from people who did not spec the compressor. take the time to find out your needs and spec the compressor to fit your needs. in short don't bring a knife to a gun fight. learn what CFM and duty cycles are and you'll end up with something you'll be happy with. This compressor has exceeded my expectations by a long shot. it runs my spray guns and die grinders with ease. i sprayed a 1340 SQ.FT. house in one day without difficulties of any kind. yes its noisy oiless compressors are! and as for all the crabbing about the coiled air hose its for a blowgun,... review »

This is not my first Craftsman purchase, i bought this compressor in early 02, I liked the fact that it was maintenance free as its pump was oil free. used it for a while but would've definetly bought the vertical instead of the Horizental one as it's a space saver. Pump worked fine for a while but pressure build-up gets slower as time went by, and it makes the compressor run contineously leading to overheating, not recommended for heavy air usage applications "like using paint guns or heavy duty sanders" oil lubed models definetly run for longer periods of time prior to rebuilds but it's not bad... review »

I have had my compressor for a couple of years now. I need a compressor when mine died in the middle of a paint job for a motorcycle. Luckily I was spraying fill and sand primer. Found this one on sale and was the largest CFM and capacity I could buy that as 120v. I have used it continously for painting, grinding, sanding. for the last couple of year. The wheels make it very portible. I have used it to put together my kids play yard. Brought in house to run air nailer to finish basement. Only issues have been the right side wheel has tended to come loose, after a lot of moving around. Also my... review »
