I bought this for my husband since he did not have a proper tool set.   This turned out to be a great gift as well as a beginner tool set.  It comes with three wrenches, in many sizes.  It has come in handy for myself as well.  I used it when I changed the oil in my car and when I replaced the engine...

unbalanced assortment

At $99 this is a great deal, and it s nice to have a case to hold each piece in its own location. However, there are too many sockets (there are seven (!) 1/2" sockets) and not enough wrenches (15 mm and 9/16" maximum size). There is only one, short 3/8" socket extension for the whole set. I would have... read full review »

Great Basic Set!

I bought this set for $99 at the Black Friday sale.  This is a nice basic set for the back yard mechanic.  The case is sturdy and has held up well, and has space to store additional tools or socket accessories.  The ratchets are sturdy (remember folks, ratchet wrenches are not breaker bars!) and the sockets cover most of the average shade tree mechanic's size needs.  The set could lose the Allen wrenches in favor of 3//8" 6" & 10" extensions.  One downside is that this set is heavy and isn't one you'd throw in the trunk for roadside repairs.  As a whole, this set is worth...

I give this product 4 stars mainly because inside the box, you can barely read the sizes. This is great for a starting foundation on tools. I got this deal for $99. At the same time, the 154 pc set was going for the same price. This is my first tool set. I'm generally happy with it. It does not come fully assembled. Everything comes in it's own bags and you have to organize it into their proper locations. The little numbers on the plastic molding made this process a little harder than it needed to be but in the end, you have a great tool box with some extra space for anything you would would like...

Very nice set in nice compact case,I had a assorted set made from several sets and it wasn't well organized.I have only had for a few weeks but have enjoyed it and also enjoyed throwing away a my old cheap stuff.I am new to the Craftsman family and have slowly been replacing all my junk with quality Craftsman tools. What really sold me on the name was... I was cleaning for my grandmother and she gave my grandfathers old tools. He  had been passed for 9 years and they had just sat in his tool shed since he bought them some were bought 60  years ago.Funny thing was lots of tools were horribly rusted...

Super value!

So, I received this tool set as a gift and the gift giver bought this set on Black Friday and it was only $99.99.  I couldn't believe the value and it had everything to get started if you were just beginning.  I asked for it, however, to compliment the 195 piece set that I bought back when I got my first car.  It has way more six point sockets than the 195 piece set had when I got it and I loved how it held everything in place so well and I could just close it up and carry it anywhere.  I did have trouble with the first set I received since it was missing three sockets and the back panel came...

Great Tool Set

This is a great set for the value, as long as you get it on sale. It includes all the normal bit sizes with a few obscure ones as well. I haven't had any problems with the quality of the tools and you cant beat the lifetime warranty. It would be nice if it came with more extensions and possibly a magnet tray or other things that would be useful in a mechanics toolset.

bought several for gifts

This set has a good selection of 1/2 inch sockets. Too many little sockets are included but all in all a great price for a quality set made in USA.

I can't be more happy after buying this tool set. Initially after I purchased the tool set, the 1/2" Ratchet didn't work however I called the service number provided inside the set and within a day they sent me a new Ratchet. Since then I had no problems. After the service I received I became Craftsman fan and since then I am investing in the tools.  This is a good quality tool set.

This is a great tool set for the money.  Made in the USA and guaranteed for life.

The finish was very good with the exception of the inside of some sockets and the 1/2" ratchet.  The ratchet head was mostly black where it had not been properly polished.  Sears exchanged it for a new one with no problem.

The 3/8" ratchet is what I call the short ratchet but Sears calls the standard ratchet.  The "long" 3/8" ratchet comes with the 154pc tool sets.

You will need some extensions to go with this set but you should know that because the full tool list is available on the website.  Also you...

best kit for the everyday at home job that needs to be done.

This is another quality tool set I've purchased from sears. With the warranty and the ease of noticing when something is missing from this set there is no reason to have to buy another set. "EVER" I've bought craftsman tools since high school and the only reason (other than buying differnt types) I have had to buy more is me misplacing them. With this set when you complete a project make sure all the holes or filled. If so no tools are left behind. I am sure I will continue to be pleased with this set for years to come and my favorite part. "MADE IN AMERICA"

This is a very nice set with a wide range of tools that serves many needs from a home garage to an auto body shop. With that being said, I did notice that there are a lot more redundant sockets compared to the limited number of wrenches and socket extensions. You would have to purchase the 302 piece tool set to get those additional tools. Overall, for the sale price, this set was a fantastic bargain and I'm happy with my purchase.

More and more of craftsman's tools are being made outside the US and the quality shows, I've had to replace craftsman tape measures and other tools after only a few uses because they were of low quality and foreign made, however, this quality tool set is Made in America, the only thing that I would add is an extension for the sockets

The assortment of tools was excellent for this price point and the case is sturdy and holds each tool in its individual place.  I would have liked to get the sockets with the larger numbers inscribed on the sides but that is my only quibble.  There is additional space in the case to hold additional tools if you need to do that.
