Only on flat lawns

I purchased a Craftsman zero turn two years ago and it does cut mowing in half. Beware though, would not recommend if you have hills and banks to mow around. I ran through a fence, off a bank, and down slopes out of control many times. Read Consumer Reports review. I sold it this spring before someone... read full review »

Good mower..but tough lesson learned

This is a good mower. The tough lesson I learned though is make sure you start the mower and ride it for a minute or 2 BEFORE the delivery man leaves or you take it out of the store. After delievery my mower was leaking oil profusely a service technician came out and determined the engine block was cracked.... read full review »

Craftsman 21 HP 42 in. Zero Turn Tractor Mower Reviews

Displaying all 12 reviews

I've had my Craftsman 42 in Zero turn for several years.  The engine blew up the second time I used the mower.  The deck wheels break off on a regular basis and it seems that most of the nuts and bolts work loose quite often.  The manual deck height adjuster is also a royal pain to use.  I also purchased the grass catcher system and it was a piece of junk.  It continually clogged and broke apart.  It now is a very expensive dust collector in my shed. A service contract is a must for this mower.

Leg saver

I mow two yard with a self propel mow which took 5 hours to do. I picked up this 21 hp 42 in. mow from sears in may and this was the best thing ever happened to me with a lawn mower. It take 2 hours to mow both yards. For the price I paid and the quality I will put this mower up against the higher priced mower any time.

I Love this Mower

I have had my mower for a short time , but I have had a ball mowing with it. The only problem I have with it is it really throws the grass (about 6 to 10 feet) this isn't a serious problem as you just have to watch which direction you are mowing or you will cover up a flowerbed. I've read that people have a problem tearing up their lawn on turns, all you have to do is not drag one wheel. Make sure to keep both wheels moving when making a turn. I would highly recommend this mower to friends or anyone who values quality.

Mulching is problematic

I've had the mower since the beginning of the season. After reading reviews, I decided to purchase the mower with the mulching blades installed. On a positive note, the mower is fun to drive and the zero-turn eliminates the need for trimming with a small hand mower. By the 3rd mowing I was able to easily drive the mower along the edge of the street-side curb (with confidence) and around all the trees and flower beds in the yard. One negative: Unlike my prior Crafsman lawn tractor the cutting blades don't overlap in the center of the deck. When cutting the grass, I've discovered that the grass... read full review »

Out of Service

I really liked the mower until the deck wheels broke and can't get parts for it. It has been out of service for a month and no hope in sight even though I bought the 3 year extended warranty.

Happy-Great Start

Have been very happy. Don't over inflate the tires or you will have sliding problems. Rides nice, we mow 8 1/2 acres of wooded lawn and can't have wide deck. Cut 2 hours off the mowing time.

Zero Turn Mower

The mower is good in motor and for as for a comfort it is the worst thing I have every road on. Make sure the saleperson lets you do a test drive before you buy. This store WOULD NOT this should have been Our first clue. I will never buy from Sear again now you pay a restock fee and that is just not right. NO COMFORT AT ALL

Not a 4X4

That's what my husband has told me since I've gotten stuck twice; once highcentered, the second sliding down a slope headed for the marsh. All in all, I love my mower. beats walking behind. I have three slopes and have had to learn to manuver them. It does slide and tear up the lawn on turns if not careful; but goes around trees fine. I did bend the mulching blade already; (OK guys quit telling my husband not to let me on the thing!) Bottom line. I love my mower!

Simplicity/Snapper

This lawn mower is made by Snapper/Simplicity owned by Briggs and Straton. This is a good mower, but not on rough yards. I wouldn't get any with the Koler Engine, according to reports, they are junk. Prices are 2600 for the simplicity 23hp/42" and 2850 for the 24hp/50 just in case your thinking about this mower

i love my ztr

well i had a craftsman 19.5 42" lawn tractor, loved this mower. but let me tell u my zero turn blows it away. it takes me half the time to mow my yard now and gives me more time to do other projects around the house, and its also actually fun to mow now. i would recommend this mower to anyone, u just have to get use to the controls and u've got it. just be carefull on slopes because they will slide on a angle but over all i love it and u will to if u purchase won.
