I purchased this craftsman 22" Electric Hedge Trimmer to replace my old (and dull) 17" B&D electric trimmer which has faithfully served me for years. I couldn't be happier. Even though its 5" longer, its no heavier and handles easily. You must use 2 hands for most practical trimming, and for safety reasons...

I owned a previous version of this trimmer and was pretty happy with it-basically wore it out over several years time. I bought this new version and found that I could not get the handle to attach firmly to the body. The handle is plastic and looks and feels cheaply made. This "bail handle" is supposed...

I wish I could echo other reviewers' comments on how great this trimmer performs, but I never got the chance to see it in operation. Like MusicCityEngineer, I too couldn't get the handle attached, despite struggling mightily and trying everything I could think of for over half an hour. Terrible design. It's going back to Sears tomorrow.

I have not actually used this hedge trimmer myself but I have watched my husband use it and compared with his old hedge trimmer he completes the job in a much shorter time and is much happier when he finishes it!

He has said that it is very easy to use and handle and has no complaints about it, all around he loves it!

Decent product at a decent price (while on sale). There may be better trimmers out there but for the average person, this will work fine. Note: I usually tie a knot at the cord, looping around the handles of power tools to avoid the cord from poping out. Hope this helps someone? Overall Craftsman makes a decent product.

Very nice tool, very light so even small jobs are easy.  I never used an electric hedge trimmer before, and it was easy to learn to use it.  I shaped a box hedge, and it came out pretty well.  I didn't cut the cord, which I was proud of.  I made sure my body was between the cord and the shrub at all times.  The cord retainer is helpful, and a simple and ingenious design idea.

I only used this one afternoon so I don't have too much experience with it, but a 2 year warranty quiets my fears.  Sears wanted to sell me a 3 year worry free warranty for seven-fifty, but my credit card gives me...

This is the first hedge trimmer I've ever used. I have to say that I was curious how good it would cut, considering how light the unit was.

For what I need it for it cuts incredibly well. It's like I plug it in, wave it around for a while and now my back yard hedges look great. I knew and trusted the Craftsman brand when it came to hand tools and now I feel confident in any future Craftsman power tool purchases also.

This trimer goes like a hot knife through butter and does very nice job of trimming.  It chews right through even thick branches without breaking a sweat.

-- BUT --

I could not get the unit to run for more than 2 consecutive minutes without the power cord coming unplugged. AND, because it comes unplugged while it's in continuous run, when you plug it back in (after being all ticked and aggravated) you could become distracted, plug it in and easily lop off a finger -- or two.  Do the folks that design these things ever USE them?!  Why don't the units have pigtails anymore that you can knot with...

This hedge trimmer is worth the purchase price.  I was looking for something that was light, simple to use yet would get the job done.  This trimmer is it!  It was easy to assemble and I immediately went to work on the hedges.  I've used it several times now on hedges, overgrown bushes and other stuff and I'm very pleased with it.

Bought this trimmer on a Sunday and put it to use right away on my 30 year old  Mock Orange (that were at least eight full tall) and hedges. Neither of these had been trimmed for about a year.

Trimmer was very smooth in its operation and cut through this overgrown mess in no time at all. No stalls and it sliced through all that I put it through with no problems.

Did not use the lock switch because I was being very cautious and being 82 years old didn't want to cut anything off that I might still need.

This unit is great at cutting. I had an old electric hedge trimmer that was smaller (lenght and teeth). I was almost going to buy a gas one this time because I wanted something more powerful but decided against it because of the additional cost and weight. Had I known that this electric trimmer was so much more powerful than my old one I would have upgraded a long time ago and saved myself a lot of grief. This thing just cuts like butter and is perfect to do the  approx100 shrubs that border my property. It's powerful enough to cut the typical size branches commonly found within these shrubs....

I recently purchased this Craftsman model 79442 hedge trimmer.  I was looking for an electric trimmer that would easily handle the biannual trimming of shrubbery close to the house.  After doing some research on the internet, I narrowed it down to this model and several from Black and Decker.  For the money, this seemed to be the most feature-laden of the bunch, and the reviews on the Sears website were very positive.  I noted while looking in the store that it could handle branches up to 3/4 inch thick.  This was more than enough to handle my needs.  It also comes with a 2 year limited warranty...

A great tool

Well, so far I like the tool.  It trims very well and is easy to handle. It seems to be the right length for what I need.  It is fine quality.

I think this is such an awesome hedger. Especially for the price it is a very good power tool. it's what can be expected from Craftsman.

I got this trimmer when it went on sale for $29.99.  Although I never owned or used a trimmer before, this was easy to put together and use.  I recommend it to anyone.  It would get 5 stars if it came w/ a cord.
