I have now owned my snowblower for over two years and it has never failed me when I needed it. It has started flawlessly and has performed extremely well the last two winters and in extremely deep snow conditions

I would highly recommend this machine to anyone tired of scooping snow. I plan to spend...

We bought this machine based upon consumer reviews last September as we were going to be moving to a lake house with a long and steep driveway. We also figured that we could clear our neighbor's drive as she is 92 and really can do it her self. So come January the first major snow storm hits the day... read full review »

Craftsman 24&#34 179cc* Dual-Stage Snow... Reviews

We live in upstate New York where the winters are among the worst in the nation. I purchased a new Craftsman Snowblower Model 889571 with a 5 year in home repair protection agreement. We purchased it in September 2010 on sale in preparation for a record snow season. This machine is a super workhorse, it was easy to start and easy to operate. Sears is one of my favorite stores and there is nothing like the Craftsman quality.

Minnesota snow....

I have lived in Minnesota for 45 years and for most of those years I had to shovel snow in the winter. A few years ago I purchased a Craftsman snow blower and for the life of me can't recall a reason as to why I didn't get one sooner. This machine has saved my back numerous times. This winter we have seen more snow fall than we have since 1991 and it has been the heavy wet snow. My Craftsman has had no problem throwing it from my driveway and walks. The power it delivers and the ability eat the think heavy snow is wonderful!

I bought this snowblower in 2008 and have used it for 3 winters. We get our share of snow. Dec.2010 we got 39 inches and it walked right through it. I usually do 3 driveways, mine is 90 feet long, double wide plus numerous sidewalks. I have had no problems. I also purchased the snow cab. It's nice to not have anything blowing back in your face. Would buy another one. Good price for this machine.

Bought this last year just after one big snowfall and figured "Okay, now it will never snow again." Well, a month later we had two blizzards in two weeks and 4 feet of snow total.

This thing was a CHAMP. It was actually purchased by myself and three neighbors, so this has got used by FOUR households during last year's multiple blizzards. It had its work cut out for it, but we didn't have a single issue. It started right up (DON'T HIT THE PRIMER TOO MANY TIMES! Engine floods very easily), and obviously it worked hard to get through two feet of snow, but I have a 150' driveway and it carved right...

I was waiting until we got a really good snowfall before writing a review and we just got one. Blizzard of 2011 dumped 15" on our town. The electric start works great and in the 5 times I've used this this first winter its started right away every time. This blizzard was no exception. It was actually pretty fun to use in deep snow. You could hear the engine kick it up a notch when it hit the deep drifts and it threw the snow a mile (well not literally, but it went a long ways). When we came to the hard packed snow at the end of the drive after the snowplows had been by, it took a couple of... read full review »

I bought this snow blower with high expectations. Looked good out of the box, assembled pretty easy. I started it easily, but the problem started when I activated the auger. The auger belt slipped off. To fix this, I had to drain the gas tank, take off the top and bottom plates to access the belt. I got it back on, started it, activated the auger and the belt came off again!! We had a major snow storm and was hoping it would not happen again. I got about 10 inches with the auger spinning and wham!! The auger belt broke. Obviously a factory defect. I am also upset with Sears as they were... read full review »

I had no problems whatsoever with this machine cutting through the 5ft high drifts of the 2011 Blizzard. My only warning is that once you have a 2 stage, all your neighbor will want you to help out. I did my driveway, a neighbor's driveway and helped out 2 more at the deep snow at the curb. So you will actually have more work to do than if you have only a shovel.

Our new house has a 150+ foot driveway and I had to buy a snowblower. This one has really done a great job for us. If the snow is not too wet it'll blow right through 18+ inches. I had trouble with a recent wet slushy event and had to use my shovel. But overall this thing has been fantastic. The variable speeds work well and the tires have good traction. One review mentioned how the snow removal tool gets in the way of the chute. I haven't had this problem at all. Starts right up within two pulls when cold (no need for the electric start, although it works great). It gets the job done quickly... read full review »

Cables are a poor design

nice blower till the clutch cable wont stay connected to the handle and your sitting in below zero weather with snow blowing all around you & a job to do ! They really need to at least redesign a replacement cable that bolts to the handle . not slide into a hole that chews the cable ends up in 2 storms.

I have had this snow blower for less than three years. It has been repaired for the same problem nine, yes nine, times! The handle that controls the augur keeps getting stuck down and won't shut off. I am never buying any Craftsman products again! When the warranty is done I plan on selling it and buying something more reliable instead.

I bought this product on the day after the first big snowstorm of the season. I had about a week before the next big storm hit. It took me about 1/2 hour to assemble the rotary bar for the snow chute, gas it up and start it (the electric start is a nice feature). We had about 12" of snow and it took me about 1 hour to clear a path from the house to the garage and then clear off the driveway so that we could get the cars out. That would have taken at least 3-4 hours of shoveling.... all the time listening to my wife warning about the pending heart attack (and worrying that she was right)... read full review »

I purchased this snowblower a month ago, and I absolutely love it! It starts on the first pull every time, I never even used the electric start. The variable speeds are a great feature, I can put in low when doing walkways, and other small areas, or crank it up to do my long driveway. It is self propelled, so it does all the work for me! It clears a path all the way down to the pavement. I live in Cleveland, OH. and we get a lot of snow, but nothing that this can't handle. I recommend this snowblower to anyone!

Blizzard proof

I've been using this snow blower for two winters now with great results. I have about 80 feet of driveway and two walks to clear, plus I have a fire hydrant on the front lawn that I clear out when it snows. Yesterday was a true test.. the most snowfall in one day in Connecticut in 100 years. The depth of the snow on my driveway was level with the top of the snowblower intake, which is 21". The plow hump at the street was probably about 3 feet deep. I was able to clear the entire driveway and the walks with one tank of gas. It took me around 4 hours to complete. The one-handed operation allows... read full review »
