I ordered this two weeks ago and when it arrived to my house the box was a mess. Then I looked at the motor for possible damage and it turns out that it is 7 yrs old. Still brand new but old merchandise. My husband started it and it seems to be just fine. We are not sure of the self advancing head yet.
I like the trimmer except that the motor seems to be located a little too close to the handle for my liking. I am 6 foot tall, so maybe this would be OK for shorter people. It starts easy and trims very well. I still have to get use to flipping it from trimmer to edger, never had one like this before. It is a nice feature since I do more edging than trimming. The self feeding line is what I like the best. No more tapping! This trimmer is not too heavy, but seems to be built well. The price was very good. I looked at a lot of trimmers and asked a lot of questions before settling on this one. i am...
read full review »Read the bad reviews, I didn't have the problems others wrote in their reviews. Put it together, mixed the right amount of fuel, primed it, pulled cord a few times - didn't start, realized I didn't depress the on button. Depressed the on button and started first pull. Did a lot of pre trimming, turned it off to move a bench and wheel barrow - then restarted it and finished up my trimming. Works better and faster than my other two weed trimmers - one is gas (Green color) and the other is Sears electric.
Considering all the reviews - I am thankful that I didn't have any problems.
So far I have to say this is a Great trimmer, I like the way you can turn the shift to make it easier to edge. For the money you can't go wrong !!!!!
I received the trimmer about a week ago. I have tried to start it on 4 separate occasions without success so far.
Just went to use mine for the first time and after the first pull the starter cord will not recoil. Then I noticed gas leaking from the reservoir. A plastic line running from the reservoir was cut all the way through. So even if the cord recoiled I still couldn't use it. Very disappointed
Mine also leaked fuel no matter how I stored it. Puddles of fuel everywhere. Do not light a match around this one! Hunk of junk!
Finicky to start, tricky to keep running. Have used it only twice. If it continues to misbehave on next use will return and likely NOT purchase another Craftsman in replacement.
This is the 1st Craftman line trimmer I've bought, and I will never buy another. I have used it three times so far, I just recently purchased it. It takes a good half hour to get it started as it floods very easily. I got blisters on my hands from trying to start it? It only has one string instead of a dual line trimmer. It has an auto line feeder so you go thru line very quickly. Whatever position I store it in I come back to a puddle of fuel, it stinks up my whole garage. It's cheap, but it's a piece of ****. I guess you get what you pay for. I expected better from the Craftsman name....
read full review »I had this same model of weedwacker that I bought 9 years ago and it finally died. I was happy to find they were still selling the exact same model because it was a great weedwacker. I saw the poor reviews but decided to buy it anyway based on previous experience. Bad choice. Like the other reviewer said, the FIRST time I pulled the cord to start it the cord would not retract. Broken on the 1st try. Do not buy this! They don't make them like they used to.
I ORDERED THIS TRIMMER ONLINE AND I GOT IT YESTERDAY AND USED IT TODAY AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. WORKS FINE FOR ME NO ISSUE YET. BUT WILL UPDATE IF NEEDED. BUT SAME TO BE GREAT....
Unit is light weight and versitile with the edger attachment - Unit is under powered for the edger and the replacement unit I received would only run while the choke was in the ON position. Even at high RPM's, the unit would bog-down when using the edger. Took more time to do the small job but with a bit of patience it did do the job - It currently is in Sears' repair shop for evaluation.
The trimmer works well for use as a trimmer; light weight and manuverable, but would suggest getting a more powerful unit if you were going to use for larger "edging" jobs.
I bought this line trimmer in march and have used it now for about 2-1/2" months and i must say have been quite suprised to its abilities. It starts realativily easily no more than 5 pulls ever and cuts quite well. the hassle free line feed actually feeds quite well and have had no problem with the line sticking or dispensing, i love the fact that it is a no "bump" design and can get quite a bit of work done without any problem. I do grounds mainentance for an apartment complex and have used this little homeowner grade trimmer with absolutley no problem. Edging is extremely easy with the twist...
