Craftsman 250cc 28" path Two Stage Snow Thrower —

I just picked this up before a 3 inch snow with heavy layer of ice on top. It ate it right up. I'm hoping for some bigger snow falls because this thing just loves to devour snow. It operates beautifully. Started on first pull and the motor noise is actually quite reasonable. Much better than a lawn tractor. Controls work very well although I see peoples point about the control for the directional chute. I've had to readjust it after one use and I can see the possibility of wear and tear from abrasion longer term where rod touches engine. But that's the only nit so far. You do have to muscle this a little bit when pivoting around but I think that may be more of learning the technique. Its got tons of power and looks very well built. Do be aware that snow blowers take a little maintenance (lubricating in particular) which was news for me since its my first one. I'm fairly handy so it doesn't look very challenging. One of snow blower reviews I read said if he could have only one Sears blower this would be it. Next model up has more bells and whistles but I don't think you need them or the possible mechanical issues they create. I was concerned about size and weight but I loaded it assembled in back of mini van and it fits perfect in corner of my garage ( not much more floor space than a leaf blower). Great time to buy with the financing option. I saw the same machine by MTD under Yard Man brand being offered for $400 more so definitely felt like I got a great price The Brigs and Stranton engine is new for the line this year. Some reviewers had concerns on change over but it seems terrific. This is a lot of machine for the money and it sure saves the back. Hopefully it will still be a 5 star in another year or two but I bought service contract from Sears for piece of mind. I will say the buying experience and service at Sears was first rate as well.
