Craftsman 26" 208cc* Dual-Stage Snow Thrower —
I just picked this snow thrower up this morning, and have been putting it through it's paces all day. There are some really great features on it for the price tag, which is especially nice since it is on sale for the holidays. It is easy to drive, and has several speeds to choose from, and two reverse speeds. The joystick steerable chute is really great, no stopping to readjust the chute. Another reviewer said he had problems keeping it all the way to the right or left, but I did not have any problems, and I used it several times today as there is a huge snowstorm bearing down at the moment. The big wheels are really nice too, and were able to get up over our 6" walkway step easily. Starting is easy, just plug it in and push the button, and there is also a pull start as well. The engine is nice and powerful, and easy to operate as well. The choke, throttle, and start key are all located on the back towards the operator, so it is easy to just kneel down a bit to make an adjustment. Another reviewer mentioned the exposed linkages being a problem, but I didn't have any issues with it, and rather prefer it as it is easy to replace/repair. They were all bound together and the proper length so they didn't get in the way at all. Another nice feature is that it holds a TON of gas. I was running it on and off for about 4 hours total today, and haven't had to refill. One thing to note when you get it, make sure you set the height adjustment on either side (you will need a ratchet and 1/2" socket) or you will scratch up the bottom of the housing. Also, the engine comes filled with oil from the factory, but I would recommend getting an extra quart just in case any leaked during shipping. Overall, I am very pleased with it, MUCH nicer than the 24" version, VERY sturdy and solid, and a powerful and easily accessible engine to make repairs a snap. So, go buy it.
