OK, so I have only used this once so far with about 5 inches of snow. I couldn't believe how quickly I was done. I did my own driveway (6 car size) and walkways, and then did the same for 2 neighbors all under an hour. It is powerful and gets all the way down to the pavement. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to steer and turn, but as this is the first time I have used one of these, that wasn't bad. I highly recommend this product.
...

I bought this machine at the end of November and have had the oppertunity to use it twice. Both times I was a snow throwing fool, clearing 6" of snow on four very large driveways and a city block of sidewalks on a tank of gas.The Craftsman 26"208cc Snow Thrower started up on first crank and first pull both times. The only slight problem I had was the Chute control. It was difficult for me to get use to operating it properly. With gloves on I couldnt always tell if i was holding the trigger down far enough to engage turning the chute. Overall I am extremeley pleased with this purchase and would recommend it highly to others.
...

Bought this on sale in October before it got cold. Pretty easy to assemble, but I'm an engineer. Didn't have to adjust any of the controls. I started it using the electric starter after assembly, just to be sure that worked. The choke, primer and throttle are on one side and the starter is on the other. Have to reach across the back of the machine or walk around to adjust the choke after it starts. Choke, primer and throttle location could be a bit more accessible, but they are protected from the snow.

Only had to use it three or four times as we've had no snow in Iowa until this week. Had a 6" snow yesterday and it ate right through it, no problem. Even the packed snow at the end of the drive from the snow plow were no match for the Craftsman. Really like the 21" intake height and the larger tires for that packed snow.

Best part. It starts easily WITHOUT the electric starter. It was in the low teens. Set the choke, open the throttle, push the primer and give her...
...

The first season with this unit went well. Cleared the snow, started when I needed it to. Come spring I emptied the cleared the system of gas so the carb would not be gummed after sitting overthe summer. This season it was hard to start, and finally stalled after 10 minutes of use and would not start again. After $225 in service I learn that the carburetor needed a rebuild and had leaked gas into the oil, and the drive slips. They also told me that they have seen lots of problems with these Chinese made engines that sears has started using. Beware of these engines....

FINALLY got to use after it sat in the garage, waiting, and collecting dust though December. Electric start is great. I'm not quite sold on the chute control -- I think a 'old school' ring & pinion directional control crank with perhaps a single 'slide' lever for height may have worked better -- that said, it did the job after getting accustomed to it.

I think the plastic discharge chute is a 'plus' -- after a few years with the occasional pebble getting tossed from the landscaped edges of the driveway, there will be no rust that would grab snow and clog up a metal chute (from chipped paint).

The first run last week was about 5 inches of moderately 'wet' snow -- I await the blizzard......

I had to go to the store to get a replacement and continued to finish my driveway. When I was done I found that the sheer pin had fallen out and was not broken. It either did not have the retainer pin in it or the retainer pin fell out allowing the sheer pin to fall out . The second use was uneventful. I was waiting on this reply for another storm ,but there has been no major snow this season.
...

Bought this snow blower 4 years ago and now the engine is shot. Worked great through most of last year until the gears starting slipping. Started the first snow storm this ear and would not push snow. Brought in for repair and when Sears "repaired" it I brought it home and it would not start. They had it brought to their regional repair center. I called to complain and they had me bring it in again. I brought it in again and after 2 weeks they called to say it was ready. Evidently they didnt test it. I picked it up again and guess what? It didnt start again. This time I couldnt even feel gas being drawn into the carberator when I primed it. I called and brought it in the first of November and here it is the end of December and no snowblower. I had another local company pick it up to look at it. They called to say that the engine was leaking and "scored" and needed to be replaced. I just purchased an Ariens model and will be looking to Sears for some financial restitution. Wish me luck!
...

Disappointing arrival: I stopped unpacking the snow blower this evening from its shipping box after seeing oil both dripping from the machine and vast stains on the inside portion of the protective cardboard packaging. Oil did not seep to the outer box to cause visable stains. Otherwise, I would not have taken possession of the machine. I'd now have to unscrew the snow blower's metal, protective cover to see around the engine to locate where oil is leaking. Due to the extensive leakage, I'll just call SEARS in the morning and request that they replace this snow blower. Only waited a week for this machine to arrive, but now that the December holiday season is in full swing, I can anticipate the replacement snow blower in 11 days to 16 days, according to the SEARS web site. Not a good start with this snow blower.
...

Price is blow up to the roof than they frequently run sale and promotion to make it look like a good deals. Compare this with other thrower out there with similar price this craftsman don't stand a chance....

Will start when cold and run roughly for a few minutes and then won't restart. Looks like the carb/fuel system, which I see on the boards is a real joke.

This snow thrower is one of the best units I have used in years. Cuts through snoe like butter and the 26" path means only one trip down the sidewalks I have to deal with. I use it to clear the driveway too. And it works great even after the county trucks have added an extra foot of heavy wet snow.

Beats a shovel anytime. I live ion a small community and now get to laugh at those poor folks trying to get through the snow with the little electric or small one stage blowers. I done and down the road befor they get one sidewalk done.

If you have a bigger area, the 28 or 33 will make easy work of it. Why pay more for a Cub Cadet, this is basically the same unit and its backed by Sears and about $100 less.

I would recommend this to anyone tired of breaking their backs. It's the best.

I picked this snowblower up in early December to replace my old Dynamark.
I was surprised at how much lighter this new snowblower is. It was easy to put together and after putting gas in, it started on the 2nd pull. I then waited for the snow to fall.
As you may know were getting hammered with snow this year in the NY area. I have used this blower in every snow fall and it was easy to start every time. I am very happy with the power this blower has and its ease of use. I have used it in 4" to over 12" of snow and it has worked flawlessly every time. The only issue I have is the 1st gear is so slow it is useless. This blower chews through the piled up snow at the end of the driveway with ease. Besides clearing my paved driveway I use the snowblower to clear trails in my back yard for my dogs to run in. With my Old snowblower I was pushing it and working hard to get it around the yard. This new snowblower has great tires and getting around the yard and even up hills is no problem.......

But the snowblower has no issues cutting through the whole thing in no time.
Saved me a lot of work. I would highly recommend it....

It's plenty strong enough for my 210' driveway. I can clear 7" of snow in about 10 minutes in 2nd gear. I also use it to clear the walkways and a path for my Craftsman Garden Tractor so I can bring up firewood. This path is probably 60" wide by every bit of 210' long through the hilly yard.
The next model up had power steering which would have been nice but not necessary, as this model is easy to maneuver....
