Chute control - hit or miss

Craftsman 26&#34 208cc* Dual-Stage Snow Thrower w/ EZ Steer —

I have to agree with the one poster regarding the chute control (side-to-side).  I originally purchased the Craftsman 26" without the power steering.  The chute control was apparently defective as it would barely operate even using both hands.  I went to the local Sears store to check out the snow blowers on the floor.  The 26" non-power steering model chute control didn't work as well.  Apparently, someone had put enough force on it to break the metal connection on the handle and it needed to be welded.  That's the explanation the Sears guy gave me for the poor performance.  I tried the control on the 26" with power steering and it worked very well.  I believe since these are new models, and now use the rod mechanism instead of the cable to adjust the chute from side-to-side, that they side have some bugs to work out.  It may be due to the fact that the rod between the handle mechanism and the chute is angled in some cases.  I've since purchased this model and the side-to-side chute control is better, but still not easy.  I think you'll find it's hit or miss on what you get.
