Anyone with tools should have this kit too!!!

At well under a dollar per tool, this box is perfect. I've been using this kit for almost 9 years. As a tinkerer it is only rarely that I find a need for other tools while doing engine swaps or motorcycle work. Throw a set of universal ratchet drives and a breaker bar; and you are set. Do not hesitate to purchase any craftsman set for $1 per tool or less. You'll regret it eventually if you opt for a foreign-made set. You'd have to be pretty careless to pop the drawers open but I did drill a 1/4" hole through the box near the back to run a rod through and lock it up. Strap would be cool too. Worth full price!

I took my time when I decided to buy this one. I know it was a steal for what I paid but I was concerned about reviews I read. I am not concerned at all now. One review was about the drawers just flipping open and out. Not true. They are very snug but they may wear loose in a year or two. But there are ways to fix that when the time comes. Another review was that the raised writing was hard to see. This is true but easy to fix. It is red on red so I took a black magic marker and lightly rubbed the top of the letters. Now I can see them from across the room. The only other thing is the wrenches... read full review »

Great Kit....for me at least

I am in no way a professional anything. I do minor repair on my car and home. This set has everything I need. Before having this set, I would spend lots of time (wasted!) looking for the right tool. With this set, everything is right where I expect it to be. As others have mentioned, some of the larger sockets are lacking, but I have yet to need anything it does not have. My biggest complaint is that the drawers are not the best. They do not slide easily and the sockets do not "snap" in to the slots. Sliding in and out the drawer usually knocks a few out of place. No big deal though. I purchased... read full review »

Excellent Selection

Got it on sale @ $152.99. What a deal! About the only thing that it is missing is 6-point 1/2" sockets, it only comes with 12-point. The 1/4" and 3/8" sockets have a GREAT selection though. This is an excellent, excellent deal and IMO is better than the $350+ sets. If you pick up a set of 6-point 1/2" sockets this set is pretty much complete for anything you could ever need to do around the house or car.

263 pc.

I really like this set. I ended up getting it for $180 with tax. For that price you can't beat it. The ratchets are not the nicest one but they work. I will probably get better ones in the future. And also a few of my wrenches were rusty but they are sending me new ones so that was fine. Overall I would say everyone could use this kit. They price, the variety, and the brand, what more do you need.

5 stars

I bought this set for myself and loved it. After my Son became a Diesel Tech, I ended up giving it to him thinking he may get more use out of it than I did. I was right. About a month or two after he added it to all of his other tools he told me that he uses these probably more than anything else in his Rolling cabinet. Great Value and Great Product.

Great set, but be careful!

I don't have to say anything about the excellent quality of Craftsman tools, and the variety included in this set is also great. Be careful using the top handle, though. After taking over a half hour to take all the sockets out of the bags and put them in their respective places, my first time carrying the toolbox by the top handle, something shifted and three of the drawers slid out and dumped on the ground. A number of the smaller sockets almost went down a sewer grate. I then had to spend another half hour or so putting all the parts back where they belong again before I knew if anything was... read full review »

The Best

I love this set. I like it so much I have two of them. You can always find the socket you need or the screw driver bit. If something is missing you will know at a glance and know what size it is. If you need a set of tools you cannot beat this one.

great starter set to build on

I got this set 2 or 3 years ago, actually it was a graduation present. i work as a professional technician. has most every 1/4 and 3/8th drive socket you need. the 1/2 inch drive is lacking deep wells and 6 points but you can handle most any mechanical situation with that is included in this set. The major bonus is the blow molded case. easy identification of sizes and keeps all the sockets together. one upgrade to the set would be the next generation thin profile ratchets a much smother action, and more consistent in operation.

Sockets = great, Ratchets = cheap

Great set of sockets. Every socket I could ever need. The ratchets are really cheap though. I plan on buying a better set of ratchets...probably the next gen titanium Craftsman set. The plastic case is good. Buy this set and add some better ratchets, wobble extensions, and maybe some ratcheting wrench sets and you'll have a 5 star set with all you'll ever need.

What A deal!!

I almost bought a similar set at regular price without the case. Yeah the case is not designed to be tossed around in the back of a work truck, but with the proper care you can do it. It is an excellent value for home owners and mechanics alike. I only wish the case had a place to organize the metric and standard wrenches that just get tossed in the bottom drawer. For $199 bucks you would be crazy to pass it up.

Craftsman 263 pc. Mechanics Tool Set

I often equip all my vehicles with a complete tool kit. This kit has been a great addition to my military vehicle fleet. With a set that covers most of my needs and stores well, this is my choice for a complete tool set. Most tool kits either have to few or too many of the parts that I do not need, this kit is a good blend of needed parts. With this set I only need it to complete my repairs, no more running around to get extra parts during that critical phase of a repair.

Perfect size

This set is going in the motor home. It is the perfect size. Compact yet has all of the tools I may need when on the road. I no longer have to pick and choose the tools I may need from my tool chest, find a container to put them in, and find a place to put them. Now the same quality tools are all in one container and organized. Just the way I like my tools. This is time saving because they will not have to be unpack they will stay in the motor home. Perfect size.

Almost the perfect portable set

I love the tools in this set. There is nothing better than Craftsman quality. One thing I would do to make this set better is the case. The concept behind the case is good, but the execution was lacking. I would have preferred a more positive mounting mechanism for the tools. I also would like a way to keep the drawers from sliding out accidentally. I took these tools to a friend's house to help them out and when I went to take the tools out of my Explorer the top three drawers fell out onto the ground. I wasn't happy to say the least. Anyway, if they could come out with an upgraded case,... read full review »
