Not bad for the price

I needed an edger but didn't want to buy a large bulky model or a flimsy electric or 'weed-eater' style model. This one fit my needs and my budget. Two complaints: the shaft is not as sturdy as I thought it would be; there is a little wobble and play in the main shaft that makes the unit feel a bit... read full review »

glad I bought the extended warranty

This edger is not very good. It takes several passes to give your edge a "fresh cut" look. It is also extremely difficult to handle on the curb. I've had it for a 1 1/2 years and it has started fine until now. Nothing turns now as if the pull cord is pulling freely. I'm returning it with the warranty... read full review »

Craftsman 29cc 4 cycle Gas Edger Reviews

Displaying all 10 reviews

This Craftman 4-cycle gas edger is the same as the Troy Bilt that is being sold at ***** for $159.  100% the same engine and design but different name. I was considering the electric B&D LE750 edger which has good reviews but I was afraid that it does not have enough torque for overgrown sidewalk that I have not touched in 10 yrs. I have used it 2 times since I bought it from *****, so here is my initial report. (1) I bought it because of 4-cycle engine, no gas/oil mixing required (2) light wt and small enough to store in a tight-space garage (3) When first use ,it would take 4-5 pulls before...

Does not cut grass

Plain and simple ... this edger does not cut grass. It pushes it out of the way. Also, does not work well on the curb by the street. Save your money and buy something better.

Easy To Handle

I have used this edger around six times, so its longevity is unknown to me. I want to start by saying I really like this edger and if it were stolen, the following day I would purchase another one (and a guard dog!). But before I give the positive, I am starting on the negative so that you can decide whether to continue reading this review. You need to be aware that the valves need to be adjusted every 10 hours of use. There are five screws to remove the plastic side cover of the motor and one screw to pull off the small rocker cover. Remove the spark plug and turn the motor until piston is at... read full review »

Gas Edger

Edger does not make a complete cut first time. After 2 or 3 passings the ground is cut. Tough grass and weeds are not fully cut, so you have to hand pull them out. Edger has a good start and hold position and easily starts after a delay. Being that it's a Craftsman product I expected a more versatile edger with a higher capacity cutting edge.

Very Poor Product!

I can't say it it any more bluntly than this product is an absolute piece of junk. On the very first use the throttle broke. I didn't get finished with my job and like another reviewer indicated that it does indeed push grass out of the way and barely cuts it. What I did get done I had to do at least twice. I am very disapponted! If I could rate this product less than 1 star I would.

29cc 4 cycle edger

This edger is light and easy to use, A+, the only problem I had is with the blade guard, I have thick St. Augustine grass and the way the guard comes all the way down low up front it was pushing into my lawn before the blade could cut it making it difficult to use, I removed the guard and it threw grass all in my face, very dangerous do not recommend, last I cut it on an angle similar to the larger edgers guard and it was perfect, cuts great and throws grass out the front away fron user, love it now

Less capable than my 28 year old edger

Edger pushes grass out of the way instead of cutting it. The reason for this appears to be the blade rotation (blade spins up instead of down). Add to that the fact the edger pull starter broke after 5 uses and you can understand my rating. I was very disappointed with this product.

Love it!

This thing is awesome! Love the 4 cycle engine. Starts first pull and works great! Worth the money.

Good for the money

This edger works adequately once you learn how to use it. It doesn't cut as cleanly as more powerful models but then it is lighter, easier to handle, and less expensive. Once you learn how to use it, it does the job. It's not as versatile as a higher end model. My biggest complaint is that Sears stores do not carry the replacement blade. However, ***** does (MTD). You can order it from Sears or save money and get it at *****.

Poor power

Verr poor power. I have thick St Agustine grass and this doesn't spin fast enough to have a clean cut on the grass. Not very stable. With a connecting bar only on one side it is wobley. I do not recomend this for anybody with a thick "tough" edge.
