Good impact wrench for the price

Great little Impact wrench.  I use it with a 5 gallon air compressor, and it handles most bolts without any problem. It's nice and quiet, doesn't use too much air, and it's obviously well built.  The only thing that I can't do is remove stuck lug nuts or bolts torqued much passed 130lbs. But, since...

Not worth the money

I have had to have this product replaced two times and rarely use it now so it will at least last through the warranty. Once it breaks I will buy another brand.

Craftsman 3/8 in. Pistol Grip Impact Wrench Good value for the money

I have been using my impact wrench daily for 16 months now and it still works great. It's mostly used to tighten 13 and 16mm nuts and bolts on bus seats. As  I remember there was a bit of a break in period. When it was new when I pulled the trigger the gun wouldn't spin I just gave it a little twist of the wrist to get it started, after a few days it always started. I like the hand grip, it  feels good in your hand and is warmer on cold days. Good balance and light weight.

145 lb tork is good for a 3/8 drive impact wrench. If...

I purchased this impact wrench around 2007 for ~ $70. I a home DIY mechanic that occasionally works on other peoples vehicles. I love this gun because it is light and small and has fantastic power control. Power is decent even below 90 psi. If you want more power the air pressure needs to be cranked up to 135 psi +. My main complaint is power control when tightening. On the lowest setting it doesn't spin. Reverse works good on all settings. Also, I striped a bolt when tightening because I forgot to check the power and it was on full. It would be better to have a power dial and a second... read full review »

Save your money!!!

Its probably wise just to let this product to continue to sit on the shelf. Its a one time use throw away tool. It worked good when I replaced a head gasket on a honda.I oiled it and put it away. The next time I used it it was just dead it blew air straight through it would spin but not impact. Not questioning the "Craftsman Reliability", I replaced my small central pneumatic air compressor with a 5hp mac tools compressor to no avail. I got stuck using my Snap-On 3/4 drive to finish the job this tool wouldn't even start. My only suggestion for this tool would be if you have a child that wants to... read full review »

This one is for starters not PROS.

I purchased this gun to start off with, this was my first choice. It put out about two months of work before it actually started giving up. You really get what you pay for, but I am glad that it comes with a ONE YEAR IN STORE FREE REPLACEMENT WARRANTY.

craftsman 3/8 impact gun

gave it one more try like i said i would. lasted 20 minutes. doing a tranny on a ihc . gun didn't have enough power to remove drive shaft u-joint straps. broke free with 3/8 wrench then used gun to finish. gun removed 3 of them. on the fourth bolt the gun was all done. very very poor tool. returned again last night and got my money back.

Outstanding Control, size, weight

PROS: it is very light and controlable. The reverese is fully variable and at any power level the trigger is also variable as opposed to many air impact wrenches which are either on or off there is no control at the trigger. An example is a gas pump - the more you squeeze the rigger the faster the gas flows. CONS: to get the full power you need 125-135+ psi (like most air tools, it is not as strong as 1/2.

DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would not waste your hard earned money on this tool. I purchased mine and before the 60 day in store warrenty was up I had to replace it. Thankfully I purchased the 2 year warrenty becasue it has been 30 days since my return and I have to return it again. The bad part is everytime you return a product like this you have to purchase the extended warrenty everytime you return it. At this rate I could have purchased a Snap-On impact wrench and saved money and hassle. DO NOT make the same mistake I did.

Junk?

It only lasted one week!! Are you kidding!!! And Sears was sold out so I could not get a replacement! I will try it again was a good quite tool! Running to sears ever two weeks is not good. I am a 14 year pro and know tools. One more try for this!!!

I wished I had made this purchase years ago, I already had the 1/2 inch impact wrench but I can use this one in places that the other wrench is just  to big to fit in. I just replaced the shocks on the front of my truck and if you have ever done that you know what a pain it is the get the top nut of the shock. it was a breeze using this  impact wrench. Would definately recommnd to all my friends and family. The price was excellent as I was lucky enogh to catch it on sale.

pretty good air wrench

I'm impressed with this air wrench so far since I've had it for a month and I use it just about everyday as an auto technician . My air wrenches are snap-on except for this one and I'm considering investing in more of the craftsman since they come with a better replacement policy and are way cheaper, although the snapon dealer is a great guy and has alot of specialty and diagnostic equipment you can't get thru sears. I had purchased a similar air wrench from ***** but was totally dissapointed as it claimed to have 200ft.lbs of torque but i tried it on a couple of lug nuts against my snap on wrench...

worth it!

I just started as entry level auto tech. I purchased this impact for the price but I got alot of power to go along with it. Other guys in the shop have spent 2 to 3 times what I paid on thier impacts and mine does the same job but with a smaller price tag. It's well worth it!
