They helped with traction for snow plowing. The change wasn't overwhelming but with chains on a hard surface my 20 hp Craftsman lawn tractor could push very heavy crusted snow at the recommended maximum depth. Installation takes about 20 minutes after you have your 9/16" socket ready. It takes a moderate amount of strength to mount these within the deep dish wheels. Some wheels may require drilling, mine didn't, so you will need considerably more time, tools and patience if your wheels do not have pre drilled holes. The kit comes with instructions and a paper template for hole marking if you will need to do that. On a scale of 1 (incredibly easy) to 10 (impossible) I would give the difficulty factor with pre drilled wheel holes a 3. With a helper holding the weight in place while you bolt it up - 2. I put one weight on a digital scale and it does weigh 29 - 30 lbs. so you are getting what you pay for. The quality seems good but the price is relatively high per pound. You can only add so much unsprung weight to such a small wheel. Other than the additional weight kit that puts a 55 lb. weight on the rear of the chassis, this is the only game in town that looks good and is totally compatible with the form and fitment. If you have the money then think about the quick mount kit but for budgeting, these do well. Now to address some previous review comments: These weights are NOT stackable, they are shaped like a mushroom with two holes formed through the plastic over cement filled housing. If Sears sells stackable wheel weights, these are not them. As for required drilling of the wheel weight to access to the schrader valve, this does not apply to these weights. You certainly don't want to ruin them by doing so. There are no instructions on drilling these weights and it is documented that you must remove them to access the tire valve. You are also instructed to remove these weights when the snow season is through. I hope this is clear for any readers wondering about the previous comments. One last bit of advice, add a tire sealant to reduce the loss of tire pressure. This may help prevent removing these weights before the end of the snow season.

I just purchased a YT4000 yard tractor, manual 6 speed, 24 hp. Since my concrete drive is steep will the weights and chains handle the job of snow plowing? Do the chains scrape up the concrete? Any info is appreciated.
