I am very pleased with the Craftsman backpack blower.  Although I had a problem with my first one (impeller broke) the ease of use and performance is so good I got another one.  The blower starts right up very easily with only one to two pulls and lasts quite awhile on a single fill up.  Power is...

Not happy with craftsman anymore.

I bought this blower in May 07 to replace the handheld Craftsman blower I bought in Nov. 06 which no longer worked. I bought that blower to replace the one I bought in Nov. 05 which no longer worked, which I bought to replace the blower I bought in Oct. 04 which no longer worked. Not worthy of CRAFTSMAN name

This is the first item of Sears/Craftsman name that over 50 years of buying I have been totally unhappy with. I used it two or three times and then it would no longer keep running. Here are several things I noticed that happened--- The gas filter kept falling off the fuel line inside the gas tank (Too loose a fit and only engaged stem about 1/8 inch. Insulation rubbing off of ignition wires due to rubbing and vibration. Main spark plug wire started to rub through and finally broke off where it connected to the special plug boot. A small piece of plastic broke off the bottom of the housing when... read full review »

Don't waste your money

Have had two of these in 3 years. Easy to use but reliability has been a big problem. The first one vibrated an engine retaining nut loose from the backpack after the 3rd week, which couldn't be reordered because the model was too new. Sears replaced the unit, and the replacement one lasted for 2 1/2 seasons, used one time weekly in season. A fuel flow problem developed which caused me to take in for repair. Cost to repair ($220) is more than a new one.

Somethings always wrong...

I bought this item for my father-in-law. After 2 uses, we returned it for a new one. It would not stay running. Thinking it was a fluke, I bought one for myself. I used it a few times and one day I pulled the cord to start it, and the cord ripped off. I returned it, got a new one. It worked fine. I then went to use it after the winter. It would start and then die. I made sure I had the proper amount of gas and oil. I brought it back to sears and they repaired it on site. Saying I just needed oil, but we did see the manager pulling parts off the shelf and bringing them in the back. Then it worked... read full review »

Good but could be better

Blower was delivered promptly and was in good shape when unpacked. Easy to assemble and was very easy to start the first time. Runs excellently and is much quicker and easier to use on my drive and parking lots than the handheld that I was using. The small tube end will not stay connected to the tube, it blows off due to the force. The only thing that I would want that I was not able to change was to make it adaptable for left handed people like me. It is made for right hand control only.

Problems with blower

This backpack blower is a very good piece of equipment at first. I use it to blow leaves and grass. It works well for about 6 months and hen the problems begin. The backpack broke loose from it's frame for the second time. It burned a cylinder and was in the shop for 6 more weeks this was all within 6 months of purchase. It works well when working. But is not well built and will not last under normal operating conditions. My yard is not very big I blow about a 20' X 30'. Has anyone else had this problem?

Great product and great price!

My husband works for a landscaping architect and he recently started doing his own side jobs- so we invested in this backpack blower at the beginning of the year. It was such a good price that we were hesitant at first on how it would hold up. He uses it ALL THE TIME and loves it! And it really is very powerful!

WILL NOT STAY RUNNING---2 HOURS ON MACHINE & HAS TO GO TO A SERVICE CENTER---THESE SHOULD NOT BE OFFERED TO SELL BECAUSE THE QUALITY IS JUNK

Poor quality-junk

Bought in the fall of 2006 on sale for $199. It leaked gas on me. Brought in for repairs that took 6 weeks. Picked up at end of the season, no good to me at that point. When I used it for the fall of 2007 it still leaked gas. That was after the repairs. I brought is in again to be fixed for a second time. Once again I didn't have it for the entire season. I decided to buy a stahl instead. very happy. My craftman is for sale in the paper now.

wasted money

I bought my gas backpack blower on sale in 2005 for $200.00. Since the first time I used it, it leaked gasoline throught the gasket and It ran throught my clothes. As I purchased the extended warranty, I took my blower to Sears parts and repair center. they said that they fixed the problem but the next time used, The problem was still there. a couple of months later, I was using the blower and it would stop working every 20 minutes or so. I took my blower to sears again and even with my extended warranty, Sears reapir center wants to charge me $140.00 for parts in order to repair this blower. I... read full review »

Great for big jobs!

This blower does a great job on our 1.5 acre small forest and runs for long periods without complaint. The backpack design distributes the weight for needed balance in precarious locations (roof), and prevents the arm fatigue and back pain inherent in handheld models during long operations. Definitely great value for the money!

Great concept but could use some improvement

Egonomically the unit works well. I had a little problem starting so was not impressed with the easy start claim. For the price I had expected a little more air volume but it does get the job done and is much more comfortable that the hand held unit that I was using. No mechanical problems so far, touch wood!
