Craftsman 4 hp 18" Electric Chain Saw —
I purchased the 18" craftsman electric chainsaw two months ago. I got the extended three year warrantee. I've been using it in lots of cold temperatures--from 20 Fahrenheit to -35 Fahrenheit. After one month use the electric cord broke because of the cold weather. The cord needs to be made of soft flexible rubber to remain adequately flexible in real cold weather. But unfortunately the cold is made of some plastic material that cracks easily in cold temperatures.I took it back to Sears and they immediately gave me a brand new one. I would have been happy if they had just fixed the cord. In any case I reinforced the second cord with some vinyl electricians tape and after one month of especially cold winter weather it has shown no signs of cracking. I use it for about 15 minutes every day. It has plenty of power to cut through 12 inch logs. I'm quite satisfied with it. I do use low temperature bar oil for cold winter use.
