very poor equipment...

Craftsman 42&#34 High Speed Sweeper —

I bought one of these about 6 years ago and immediately had problems with the brushes not turning and one or both wheels locking up. I have a very small yard that is level but still had nothing but problems. I took it back and receive another that had the same problems. I finally tossed it in the back of my shed and bought a Craftsman vacumn attachment that works great and now I take the buckets to the trash bags or barrell. Upon taking the wheels off the sweeper I found that the brushes chains were off the brush shaft sprockets - both wheels. There was no tension bar. I put them back on and tried it again and the sweeper only went about 50ft before the wheels locked up again. I put them back on and tried going very, very slowly. Off they came again. Whith them back on again I tried going fast. Locked up again. I went back the the vacumn as it works great. Now I have come to Northern Minn to take over a lake side resort and found the same sweeper I have at home. Same problems. Wheels lock up and chains pop off. I finally removed one of the chains on one side, place an oversized washer on that will not allow the chain to come off the sproket and the sweeper works about 50% of the time and then the wheel locks up. As I constantly watch the wheel that still has the chain and as soon as I see it lock up, I back it up which most times will unlock the chain but still only about 50% usage. This is a product I strongly suggest staying away from until the engineering is much improved reguarding the drive of the brush shaft...
