I have always wanted , needed a sweeper and as the older I got the more it became a must. So when I bought my Sears Monster Tractor I also purchased a great sweeper. It works just as I hoped it would and better, picking up Oak leaves and Pine needles. The load of leaves I sweeped up was just so much.... review »

I really wish I'd found this site before we'd purchased the sweeper. It does work well on even ground, although I had the same problems that the rest have had regarding assembly and hitch-connection. Our major problem is that we have a very uneven, 2 acre yard. On the hills, I come to a dead-stop which... review »

When I first decided to buy a tow sweeper I only had moderate expectations. I have an acre of leaves to clean up every fall and was worried that this unit might not be up to the job. This sweeper is way better then I dreamed. I expected to have to buy a powered unit to do the kind of work it does. My tractor pulles it with no problem. It leaves a clean path behind it and emptying it could not be easyer. With the sweeper I did in one day what nomally takes me a week. It is a great product and I cound not be happier with it. I highly recomend it!

A must have for anyone with a lawn and trees. This amazed me at the items it will pick up from grass clippings and wet leaves to twigs. I have a couple of trees that shed a lot of branches. I pull the sweeper around these trees prior to mowing and it picks up all of the twigs saving the mower deck. The grass has been deep a couple of times and after mowing I pull the sweeper back around and quickly pick up the clippings. Follow the directions on adjusting the height of the sweeper and it works excellent. It was very easy to put together following the instructions.

I like it a lot, saves vast energy (I'm disabled...walk but weak) on my 1 acre with 10 trees. I've had wheel lockups and other cloggings, esp. with mulberry leaves, heavy pine needles, and wet leaves on wet ground. But this is minor, even with a good dusting of snow on top of everything last November, and it generally unclogs easily. I bought the optional dethatcher, which fortunately removes and reinstalls with ease, because you'll want it off whenever clogging is likely. My big problem is that there's no way you can back up with this thing, as it immediately jack-knifes. I have places to dump... review »

I'm in Ohio, and I am writing the the evening after buying and putting together and testing this lawn sweeper. Yesterday it was 31 degrees and rainy / sleeting when I finished at 7PM (and like than man I am, I tested it anyhow) First, the short version: Bought 11/09/08 for $299 on sale, in stock, slightly torn box, minor paint rubbed from a few parts - nothing damaged or missing - am a picky guy, but not worth returning for a 'perfect' box, Instructions seemed better than reviews stated, but I missed a point (shown in photo only) when putting the bagger together - it was the step with the verticial... review »

I bought this hoping it would be an effective alternative to the three-bag grass-catcher. I was attracted to the larger capacity, and the advertised ability to pick up pine needles, acorns, and wet leaves -- things that mostly get left behind when mowing and using the grass-catcher. I'm pleased to say that it really works. And it really does pick up everything in its path, without damaging the lawn. It takes some practice to get the sweeping height and towing speed right. But once you do, it works well and is easy to use. It is not easy to dump while remaining on the tractor. It is not possible... review »

Before I bought this model I bought a Craftsman push-sweeper, hand-operated and I think 26 inches wide. It worked really, really well. Picked up wet pine needles, quite substantial twigs, big old pine cones, other leaves. The only thing it struggled with was little Eucalyptus seed pods, which are a similar size to acorns. That hand model was great, but too much work for a 2 acre lot. So I bought this big boy. It's basic operation is similar to the hand model, except you tow it, and it's much easier to empty. The construction is much sturdier, heavier, which is ok because you don't have to work... review »

I bought one of these about 6 years ago and immediately had problems with the brushes not turning and one or both wheels locking up. I have a very small yard that is level but still had nothing but problems. I took it back and receive another that had the same problems. I finally tossed it in the back of my shed and bought a Craftsman vacumn attachment that works great and now I take the buckets to the trash bags or barrell. Upon taking the wheels off the sweeper I found that the brushes chains were off the brush shaft sprockets - both wheels. There was no tension bar. I put them back on and tried... review »

I have several pieces of Craftsman yard equipment and this is the first one that did not meet my expections. I purchased it last year primarily to get the leaves off the ground. It takes several sweeps to pick up the leaves and it's not the time saver that I envisioned it to be. Maybe I have too many leaves on my yard. Also, it is a chore to dump the leaves out and have to bag them. If anyone wants one, they can have this one free of charge.

I have never written a review on a product but I have to let the buyer beware of this model. Consider this... - The wheels perpetually fall off...sometimes 2 or 3 times on the same day. I purchased a generic unit in prior to this one and used it for 10 years without this problem. - The turning radius is terrible to navigate around yards and/or when you attempt to back up. - The wheels tend to cut into your yard and will rip up large streaks before you notice it. I have been a loyal Craftsman consumer for years but this unit has not been properly designed. I would go with a cheaper and lighter... review »

This unit does mostly what it is supposed to do. The trick is getting the brush height just right so that you can sweep up the leaves that are down low or stuck to the ground without setting the brushes too low so that you get wheel skip or skid.  I didn't have to worry about leveling the hitch as this unit was level with my Craftsman DYS4500 without any issues.

I have a LOT of oak trees in my yard so I wanted to be able to pick up those small leaves that are a bit waxy as well as the sticks and acorns that fall out every year. I have a mixed yard with St. Augustine and Bermuda grass and it works...

I just used my new 42 sweeper, and would rate it an 8 out of 10. It saved me hours of work already; as we live besides a woods. At my last lawn mowing, I trimmed the grass down to 2, so the leaves were pretty much sitting on top. The height adjustment slipped several times, and needed tightening. This caused the sweeper brushes to comb the grass, and slide the wheels. I now really tighten the control and it holds. Assembly took a couple of hours with my wife helping. As I recall the instructions concerning putting the tubing into the bags was incorrect or unclear; not a biggy. I believe the tires... review »
