Better than a blade

I purchased this for my 24 HP V twin DYS five days before a 1-2-3 punch we had just before Christmas. Installation was fairly consuming (6-8 hours) as this is made to fit several different models and you need to know your lawn tractor model very well in order to know what parts are extra and not needed. In all, the only problem that I have with the design is with the primary belt drive from the tractor to the snow thrower. A better design could have been utilized to drive the snow thrower but would require more parts and is most likely why they went with the single large belt that spins off angle with twists in it that means every season you had better have a replacement on hand because it will prematurely fail due to the bad alignment and twists in it. Now on to the snow removal aspects. This particular set of storms dropped the wettest snow that we have had in the area in about 10 years and each storm dropped on average 8-12" with no break in between. The area being cleared is a 100 yard long recycled asphalt driveway and a 30'x30' concrete pad. The snow thrower works great once you spend about an hour using it to get used to it and adjusting everything to suit your terrain/conditions (first time use). To contradict the manufaturer statements on the chute, it will plug when you have as wet a snowfall as we had; nothing serious just turn the primary drive line off and use a broom handle to clear it out. I am not sure where most of the reviewers are getting the 30+' of distance when removing the snow because at best I was getting 16' which is really good since that is all I need when removing snow from a single lane driveway. Transitions from one surface to another can be tricky and require you to use the lift handle to "float" the scraper blade so that you don't "dig in". The same goes for gravel surfaces, every once in a while you need to float the blade to keep it from sinking in even with the skid plates properly adjusted. After 4 storms and 10 hours of use, I have only replaced 1 shear pin and everything is holding up great.
