Craftsman 5.5 hp 21" Briggs & Stratton 2-n-1 Deck Rear Bag Push Lawn Mower —

Because of a sale I was able to get this rear-bag version of Sears simplest mower for just 20 bucks more, but now I'm sorry I bought it.  In mulch mode (with bag removed and rear flap down) grass shoots forward from the rear cover and covers the deck and motor.  What a mess! The instructions say there is supposed to be a mulch plug but mine didn't have any in the box. Attaching the bag was fairly painless but when I went over a dry area on my lawn, the rear "dust control" bag  let out huge clouds of dust. What dust control? Again, what a mess! By the time I was done the mower was covered top to bottom with grass and dust. And I've got a very small yard! We're talking twenty minutes of use. I don't have a good feeling about this machine. Will be interesting to see if a mulch plug does actually come with it but got left out of the box, or if instead it doesn't and this is the design. A mulch plug which would cover the outlet hole and fit under the back flap is a real necessity. I'd really look at other machines first. Even on sale this machine isn't really a bargain.
