Great Versatility

Overall an excellent trimmer. The adjustable angle on the head is an excellent feature for getting under bushes and fixtures while the twisting handle is nice for edging! The trimmer has great power, is light and is comfortable to use. My only complaint about the trimmer is that the motor vent sucks...

Most Helpful Critical Review

I bought the Craftsman Model 74545 to replace my ancient but incredibly reliable (and durable) Craftsman 799760 when it finally bit the dust. The Model 74545 appeared to be well built and in my price range. And, my previous experience with Craftsman weed wackers said the Model 74545 should be up to the...

Easy to use

I purchased it over 6 mos. ago & it's still working GREAT!! No problems, I also believe the neg. reviews on here R man made errors when using this product. I am a 54 yr old woman & I can use this without any help. It's by far the best one I've ever owed. I feel if I can use it anyone can, and at the price U can't go wrong. I have a brother that also has one & he's had his alot longer than I have when he recommended it to me I thought it can't hurt, so I bought it & couldn't B more happier with it.

I purchased this trimmer about 5 months ago and waited to write a review until I had given the machine regular use over the summer and changed the string for the first time.

This is an awesome trimmer for the price. It cuts well, is versatile, and is very easy to both use and change the string. I read other negative reviews and can't help but think the negative reviews are written because of operator error. If you use the trimmer correctly (which is easy to do), you will be very pleased. I bought my father-in-law one and he loves it just the same.

Good Inexpensive trimmer

I bought one of these today because I some how let the smoke out of my old trusty Black and Decker trimmer that I've had forever. I've heard it said that once you "let the smoke out" it will never work again, and well, it didn't. I bought this model because I needed a quick, cheap replacement and for under $40 it seemed pretty good. It would be a little better if it had about 4-6 more inches of handle but it's not too big of a deal. I don't really care for the electrical pigtail as there is no real way of securing the extension cord to the plug so if you move about too much you may find yourself... read full review »

it is POWERFUL!

I had bought a gas trimmer  that could not do the job I needed for my yard.

I bought the Sears craftsman 15" electric line trimmer and it amazed me.

The power is twice as much as the gas trimmer I had . I brought back the gas

trimmer to the store.  This trimmer makes short work of anything I need.

This trimmer is well made and I will not part with it or lend it to anybody.

This trimmer does the job well.  The price was right and I have no complaints.  I did seem to go through line faster than other trimmers I have owned, so not sure if that is just what I was cutting or it will always be that way, time will tell.  Overall, I am happy with it.  Ok, I guess I do have one complaint, but I think it is because of my height, at 6'2" I have to bend over to use this which is somewhat uncomfortable, but I still have used it for up to an hour with little issues.

It's very light and easy to use. I also love the adjustable length feature. The bump head is a sturdy design works just like it's suppose to work on the first bump. This trimmer is perfect for me as I hate mixing or even using fuel, fuel being a rare commodity these days, and being very green. Earth friendly!!!

I bought this line trimmer in early March this year and have been using it every week since. There has not been one problem at all with this performance-wise. I went with a corded model since I was trying to stay environmentally and cost conscience, and I didn't think that dragging a cord around would be that big of a deal. Problem is, we just moved into our house last winter and it sits on a 1 acre lot. Sooo, you need a lot of extension cords to get around that. I've never had this much of a yard (or any yard at all in some cases), so I was a little naive when I made this purchase.

Although...

This is a great lightweight electric trimmer with lots of power. It's adjustable head makes work a lot easier. I am very impressed with it and the price.

So far, so good. This trimmer is the right size & weight for what I needed. Had all the features of a more expensive but smaller craftsman trimmer. Have not had to replace spool yet so have no comment there.

This is the first garden power tool from sears that actually does the job. I was able to clear a half acre of wild grass on a Topanga hillside property in about 5hours. The Job may have taken only 3hrs if the trimmer line didn't bind up inside when hitting tough weeds such as thistle, but the trimmer's design allows for relatively quick access and repair .

When the original line became used up, I switched to a thicker gauge line that was designed with a square profile rather than the more common round,(Craftsman commercial grade .065") and found that it cut measurably better and lasted at least...

The Craftsman 5 amp electric line trimmer is great for small jobs. Lightweight and easy to use, best for grass and weeds but not powerful enough for small branches. Would prefer a gas trimmer with more powerbut if you have a small yard, you can't beat the price.

We have been trying and trying this trimmer for 3 months and are finally giving up. The line feeder is constantly falling apart. It is extremely frustrating. we've had it and are buying something else instead.

I love the fact that the head has a pivot on it. I'm only 5'3 so it's hard for me to get the right angle between rocks and such.  With the head pivot I don't have to lift it extra high or try an angle it in places.  It's great I'd buy it again! coarse I won't have to cause I got a 3 yr warrany on it too!!!
