I have the 1/4" chisel, not the whole set. It came almost ready to use out of the package. There was a wire edge on the back that had to be ground off, which I did with a fine Arkansas stone. Then I honed a final bevel on the edge using a leather block loaded with Dico E5 grinding compound. The back is finished flat but rough except for a smoothed 1/8" section just behind the edge, which is a nice touch. After one or two minutes of honing, it cut like a dream. Great chisels, nice features

I picked up a set of these for small woodworking projects. I like them better then the expensive set I already had. The rubber caps over the blades keep them safe and sharp, and are vastly superior to the plastic caps the other brands ship with. My only regret is I have the 5 piece and not a bigger set.

I have only used these a few times so far, but I can tell you that they come sharp and they can take a good pounding. I used them to clean out a door knob hole and they made quick work of it.

I bought the three-piece set rather than the five-piece.  I don't do enough woodworking to need more.  :-)

I have used Craftsman tools my entire adult life and believe in their quality.  When I needed to notch door molding for a seam binder oak threshold, I knew Sears was going to be my first stop.

Handle is comfortable.  Edge not as sharp as I would have liked, but adequate for the small job at hand.

I don't think you could find a better combination of price and quality.  Thank you Sears.
