Buyer beware of Sears Zero-Turn mowers.

Craftsman 52" Briggs & Stratton 26 hp Gas Powered Zero Turn Riding Lawn Mower —

We bought a Craftsman ZTS 6000 Zero-Turn Rear Engine mower in June.  After mowing our acre lawn three times, it sputtered to a stop during the fourth mowing.  After letting it sit for ten minutes, it started, but only ran for less than a minute before stopping again.  After waiting a week, the repairman came out, only to tell me it was probably because "I" had the throttle lever in choke (which I didn't).  After he left, I mowed the lawn.  Two weeks later, I got five minutes into the lawn and it did the same thing.  The repairman came out and said the choke was probably stuck and/or the transmission release levers weren't pushed far enough forward.  This afternoon, I began mowing, only to have the mower stop again after three minutes.  Now it won't start and it's in the front part of my yard and too heavy for me to push to the garage.  After talking to repair, they said they couldn't come out until next Wednesday (six days).  My lawn hasn't been mowed in three weeks and Sears doesn't seem interested in my plight.   We just moved into our new home and spent more than $20,000 on Sears appliances, lawn equipment, furniture, etc.  I will NOT buy anything for Sears again.  If you want a zero turn mower, buyer BEWARE of Sears Craftsman Zero Turn mowers.

I have a problem with my 52" ZTR.Will not start. Cranks for more than 30 sec with no start. It will start with starting fluid. It will also start right away if it has run for awhile. Called customer service. They treated me horribly. I doubt the person I talked to has ever used a riding mower. Of course it will start hot. All she kept saying is if a repairman has to come out and it is not covered you'll have to pay. I bought it May 8th and every week it's the same thing. They sure do want to sell me a maintenance agreement though. Also mulch kit on backorder from 5/8/10 till july!

I feel your pain. I bought a ZTS 7500 in april 2008. August 2009 my muffler broke and melted the motor cover. The repair man came out and replaced everything. Used it 5 more time and put it away for the winter. Now my fourth time mowing this year and the same thing. Now i am supposed to pay for it to get fixed because it only had a 90 day warranty. Does this seem right to u?
