great value but has a few minor glitches

Craftsman 6.25 Torque 22 in. Deck Rear Bag Front Propelled Lawn Mower with High Wheels —

I take really good care of my mowers and they tend to last a long time so when my 8 year old mower finally died, I looked at alot of rear baggers before settling on the craftsman. The mower offers alot of handy features for under $300. Some of the things I really like are: 1) big rear wheels - easier to move around esp hopping over curbs and such 2) 22" cut - alot of the rear baggers are 21" now and although it doesn't sound like much, the 22" means less time mowing which is a good thing 3) big b&s engine - My last mower was a 5 1/2hp and although it did fine on dry grass, it labored on wet or very tall grass. This one has no problems even on tall grass. Starts easy too 4) easy dumping bagger - lots of folks mulch now but I still prefer to bag my st aug lawn and this mower is easy to handle dumping the bag Now for the glitches 1) as other reviewer mentioned the wheels are plastic and start to wear out after a couple years. My old mower had metal wheels and they were much better than this one. 2) self propelled isn't variable speed - my last mower had a variable speed self propel feature which I miss on this one. 3) wheel height adjustment is a bit flimsy - Although still working fine, the adjustment for the wheel height seems a bit flimsy compared to my last mower and I expect it won't last as long. Conclusion: despite some cost cutting issues, this is a solid performing mower and is worth a good long look. fwiw, the motor is still starting 1st or 2nd pull for me after 2 years of continuous use and all I have done to it is oil changes and keep the air filter clean.
