I can't believe that this is a Sears product. I kept having to reset the front wheels as they kept slipping. There were blade marks in my grass when I stopped to empty the bag. The rear wheels are bent which makes the mower hard to go in a straight line. Please don't waste your money on this mower. I will be taking mine back tomorrow as this is the first time I used it, bought it last weekend.

I read the other reviews about the wheel adjustment problem but it sounded like my old Craftsman so I bought it anyway. I have had no trouble with the adjustments. Out of the box it started quickly and mowed and mulched my lawn nicely. I piled up some leaves and it mulched those too. It does everything I want it to so I am quite happy. The rear wheels do not appear to be as strong as my old mower and may fail but they are o.k. so far. I would recomend this machine to anyone. I had my other Craftsman 7 years before the engine failed. I would have cost half as much to repair it as to buy a new one,...

I just finished using mine for the first time and I really really really hate it. You have to hold down both bars for it to operate. My hands are not that big and it is painful!! An ergonomic nightmare!! I tried taping the safety lever, but I still can't control the speed. I can accommodate the speed lever completely in, or out, but my hands can't manage anything in between. I should have stuck with a regular push mower or bought one with a speed control that was not a lever.

Two broken belts so far, now the machine has a fuel line blockage, which means another return because I can't fix it. The machine is a nice fit for taller folks, and when it runs, it's great. It just isn't dependable. I get two mowings then the belt breaks or tangles or whatever. Now this (blockage). A manual and keeping it spotless might help, but even that is no guarantee for this machine with a mind of its own. Two weeks left on the warranty.

It works and runs fine. The biggest issue is that the high rear wheels are a bit flimsy and I worry they're going to break off every time I turn a corner. If I had it to do again, I'd save a little money and go with the regular size rear wheels. At least they'd be more solid.

Returned this mower after 1 mowing. The front two wheels would not stay put in the height adjustment slots. Salesman was understanding about the return. He did not try to charge me a restocking fee. Besides that failure, I really didn't like the mower anyway. I'm a mulcher. Trying to cram 3 functions into 1 mower is too much. I got a lot of clumping of grass. I would suggest buying the gray model (self propelled) built strictly for mulching. We have a similar model, at a relatives, with the big rear wheels (no longer made!!!!!) that has performed perfectly the past 3 years.

I was very excited with the features of this mower when purchased. I found it to be somewhat difficult to start, but the performance was good. Really liked the self-propelled feature and the larger back wheels. I was very content the two times I got to use it before it had to go in for repairs. I wasn't real pleased for the next 3 weeks and was considering buying a couple of goats while I waited for the return of my wonderful new toy. At last we were reunited and had one more nice leisurely mow. The next time when I started it, there was so much smoke billowing from it I thought it was on fire...

Many of the reviewers seem to be upset with the cutting height adjustment on this mower. This has been a problem on craftsman mowers for many years. There is however a very simple fix and that is connect the two adjustment brackets togeter with "shock cord".
This increases the tension on the brackets to better hold them in place. There is even a hole provided on the bracket for the hook on the shock cord.
This is my fourth Craftsman mower
and none of them owed me anything when they were retired.

I am glad I got this one on sale.
Cranks fine , but nothing special that sets it apart from any other models. The wheel adjusters keep popping out of place. Too much trouble to return. I will avoid craftsman next time.

I came online looking for instructions on how to change the oil on this mower. I bought it about a year ago and have had no problems. I fill it full of gas, run it empty, refill, rinse, repeat. I will keep my eyes out on the front wheels slipping but I've not had them slip in a year of mowing a solid 1/3rd acre. I'd recommend it.

3rd time I've cut the grass and had to re-adjust the front wheels at least 2 times during each cut. I'm only cutting 1/4 acre lot! I like the mower and the features, but those front wheels not staying engaged is just frustrating. design issue?
This one is going back after I finish today. Looking at other reviews- I should've known better

I got mine from my deceased father, used once in a while for 6 months. Mom said it would not start..., Well after charging the battery and cranking it I managed to get it to run... well you could call it run, I wouldn't It managed continued motion but was not acting like it had 6 hp by any means. it ran for 20 minutes and quit again, acts like an out of time can as it puffs out the carb on crank. This thing does not have 10 hours on the motor. PURE JUNK.

I only used this mower once. The height adjustment would just drop down in the middle of mowing. It would not stay on the level where I would put it.
I returned it to Sears. The salesman was very rude when he found out I bought this mower online. He said they don't earn commision on online sales so there wasn't much he could do to help me.
I looked at other mowers but all the Sears mowers have the same height adjustment mechanism. I purchased another mower elsewhere.
