Great deal!

I have been watching splitter prices for almost a year now.  I was real close to buying one from the competition when Sears had a sale.  The Sears splitter beat the competition in the following areas:  overall price, tonnage, free shipping (almost a $200 savings), free assembly (time savings), fluids...

Most Helpful Critical Review

Ive had 2 of these splitters and both of them leaked like a sieve right out of the package. The fact that I need a tub of hydrulic fluid per cord didnt seem profitible. It probly would have been a good machine even though its probly assembled by a pack of wild monkeys.

Craftsman 6.75 Gross Torque ft/lbs. Log... Reviews

I purchased this splitter because our property is covered with timber.  My honey made sure everything was set correctly and initially had it set up in the vertical position.  Good for him uncomfortable for me.  He used the chainsaw and I used the splitter.  Works perfectly.  No leaks, no troubles no issues.  Pull start is a cinch and in the horizontal position I could split wood all day.  Meterman came by and wanted to know what it would take to get his Mrs. to help.....I told him to have her buy this splitter.  Thank you Sears and Craftsman.....we will get years of use I am sure.

I purchased the 27 ton log splitter for a couple of reasons. First being I soley heat my home with wood. Second reason is to save time. The 27 ton Craftsman model had a few plus's to go along with it. Sears did not charge shipping costs. It was turn key in the sense the fluids were included. Then the fact it was on sale, saving me over $300 hundred less then the other model I was looking at. After looking at several differen't log splitters for a year. My choice boiled down to this one. The "power" of the unit was shown on the first use. Red Oak rounds I split are over 24" in diamitter. The wedge... read full review »

This is a great log splitter.  Starts easy and goes until it runs out of gas. A larger tank would be nice...  I have been splitting red oak with it and I am impressed by its performance. In the past I would rent a splitter and the rush to get it back in time. Now I can take my time and do it right. The stand can be a pain.  It should have a quick way to release it and then lock it back into position. No big deal though.

my wife like to buy things and bought this when we were redoing our yard. I think it is a bit expensive and unless you use it often, i would probably not have boughten this. It would be more practical to rent it or if you have a few jobs, just hire someone to do it. it is really powerful though and is fairly easy to use for the handymen out there.

One fantastic splitter

This is the second log splitter Ive owned in the past 20 years. I shopped ***** and ********** and chose to buy at my hometown Sears!  Great service, before and after the sale!  Only problem was a leak in one tire.  I called the store and spoke to my salesman "Nick".  I was willing to remove the wheel and bring it in to have it fixed or replaced, but he made sure that a service tech came to my home.  They were there the following day and had me up and going in no time!  That's something you will NEVER get at any of the discount home stores..  So far, this splitter has taken anything...

Great Splitter

It takes some time, 1-2 hours depending on your energy level, to unpack the crate and assemble the splitter but it's not a difficult task. I'm 62 and average size and I did it by myself. The fluid levels were all correct when delivered. I added a little engine oil but that was about it. I fueled it up and it started on the second pull. The pull cord is easy and it always starts on the first or second pull. I only use the splitter in the upright (vertical) position so I never have to lift the rounds. I've been splitting large (24-32 inch) rounds of Douglas fir and big leaf maple and it goes right... read full review »

I read many reviews before we purchased this Craftsman Log-splitter.  It had high marks and seemed to be rugged enough to pull through the woods behind the tractor.  We've had the log-splitter over a year and it has always performed past our expectations.  When my Dad and I get together to cut firewood we laugh as the motor picks up load to split the logs.  Many times we place logs that are between 2' and 3' in diameter under the log-splitter.  The splitter does not mind hardwood with knots.  It slows the wedge and moisture spits out as the logs give under the pressure and make the impressive...

I've had my log splitter for only a couple of weeks, and I'm delighted with it.  It is easy to use and has done it's job well.  It is well constructed and easy to use.  I especially like the verticle and the auto return features.  It has plenty of power for everything I've asked it to do.   The only drawbacks are the small gas tank and that there is no speed control for the engine.

Another Great Craftsman Product

I purchased my log splitter in February. This machine is well built and has more than enough power. I have used it a total of 5 hours and it can bust through 32 inch oak and hedge with no hesitation. One thing I like is how well this machine is built. Typical of any Craftsman product, This machine is built to last decades. The Briggs and Stratton engine is very quiet even when it its under a load . I am used to an older log splitter that will rattle your brain due to noise and vibration so this machine is a welcome change. This machine is well balanced so you can move it around your garage with... read full review »

Log Splitter, 6.75 HP

This log splitter is one of the best tools I have purchased in a long time. It performs very well, is quiet, starts and runs well and has a lot of power. I am able to split a full day of log splitting, by hand, in about 1 hour. This includes splitting the logs moving and stacking them for use. The only thing I am not real happy about is the oil change process. The plug for the engine oil is located under the engine through an access hole in the bracket between the motor and the hydraulic pump. So when you remove the plug the oil runs all over the bracket along with going into the catch pan. Even... read full review »

Log Splitter

This is the first log splitter I have ever used, and I could not imagine one doing any better for home use. I have split 3 rows of wood 5 feet high and 50 feet long, and have had it only a week and used it only 3 evenings. it split everything I put in it . Some were up to three feet across and were wild cherry, which had knots and was very stringy. I feel good about picking the splitter as it works better than I could have hoped

Wood Splitter Review

This wood splitter is great! So far it has split every log I have tried without difficulty, including logs slightly larger than 25" in diameter. When running, the splitter is about as loud as a small push mower, which is a lot quieter than any other splitter I've used. Even though the splitter weighs about 600 pounds, it is fairly easy to push and pull around on level ground by myself. I would definitely recommend this splitter to anyone who needs to split large logs of either hard or soft wood. Fuel useage is about 1.5 quarts of gasoline for 1.5-2 hours of work.

Great Machine

I have used mine for well over three years, I sold firewood for the first two years. Hedge, Oak, Hackberry and Maple are split without a problem. Starting is a breeze and it sips gasoline. I guess the only complaint is the oil drain plug is in a bad location, but I had a threaded pipe placed at the drain hole and a toggel type drain attached. Problem solved, I can change oil in 3 minutes. Just check the oil level before use.

Wood Splitter

Excellent Product. Starts easily and works great! The only thing I would change is the towing tongue. When I tow it with my 4 Wheeler, my back rack hits the top cylinder fitting when I turn sharp.
