I bought this mower the other day and immediately put it to use.
First off, the packaging was great and the assembly (wasn't much) was a piece of cake. It came with the right amount of oil and readable instructions.
First use - my lawn was overgrown and I was a bit worried about using a middle of the...review »
I had a craftsman mower for 14 yrs without major issues! Bought this mower on sale and had problems right out of the box! Mower started on first pull, but rear bag filled up fast and unit stalled on each pass of the yard! Engine seemed strong but blew white/blue smoke when restarting. Took longer to...review »

Craftsman 6.75 Torque 22 in. Deck Rear Bag... Ratings and Reviews
I hit a stump with my 7-year-old 6.5 HP Craftsman and bent the crank shaft. Needed a new one.
I went to the local Sears store and this mower was on sale for $269 -- $80 off the list price. I didn't how I would ever get a better mower at this price so I bought it.
I used it yesterday for the first time. Wow, what a nice little mower. I didn't have any problems with it. I put oil and gas in it, pulled the cord, and away I went.
It's much more powerful than the 6.5 horsepower Craftsman I had wrecked. Just like my old mower, this one had a bar that you depress to keep the motor runnning. It also has...review »
We purchased this mower to replace our existing Craftsman 22" self-propelled push mower. After 7 years of reliable service, the self-propelled assembly had stopped working on the old mower. Our yard is not huge but it is somewhat hilly. Although I have used the new mower only once so far, it was a very good experience. The mower started on the first pull. The self-propelled speed is a bit faster than I was used to with the old mower, but that allowed me to complete the job more quickly, while still walking at a comfortable pace. To engage the self-propelled drive, in addition to the operator presence...review »
I purchased this $300 22" mower to replace an old Sears electric start 22" mower that had mowed approximately 600 miles. Comments:
1. The new mower has no speed control for the motor RPM. It is preset - one speed for life. I don't know if this is good or bad, but it sure is a change for me. I just roar a long.
2. The handle is floppy. I had to drill the brackets and clamp it with 5/16 x1 bolts and nuts.
3. The drive is variable. 0 to fast as you squeeze the control lever. It should have a blocking device to maintain a speed with a quick release.
4. The quick wash is not adequate. The plastic fitting...review »
I wrote a review under the incorrect product, it was a black one with the 6.75 torque and 22 inch cutting. It was an electric one I believe.
This one is not electric, but I was so impressed how you only have to barely pull the cord to start the mower. I have back and neck problems and was afraid I would never be able to use it, but I was thrilled at this. Every time I started it , It started on the first pull. I had to stop several times due to my back, but not because of the mower. I love the self propelled wheels. I love the cleaning of this mower with the water attachment. I love the mulching....review »
I purchased this mower thinking that it was good like other craftsman products. After the third time mulching the grass, the mower starting leaving a trail of grass behind the right side of the mower. After the next couple of times using it, I switched to using the side discharge. That was poorly designed. It constantly clogs and falls off. Now after 5 months of using the mower, I tried switching back to mulching and the mower will die down and sometimes die all together because too much grass is being cut. It does the same thing just trying to go back over the trail of grass clippings that it...review »
Me and my twin brother opened our lawn service. we bought a Craftsman. After about 30-40 times of use the mower broke down. this mower along with other craftsman mowers use so much gas and oil. if you do not change the oil in a short time the oil turns jet black. If you are looking to by a good mower DO NOT BY A CRAFTSMAN! Pay a little more and get a Honda. recently me and my brother went to mow a lawn and the mower shut down. the blade does not spin the wheels were locking and the self propelled wheels did not move!
I haven't used this mower much since I purchased it, only 4 times. On third time, the lock on the front left wheel gave way and kept dropping the mower down and tearing into the yard. My son kept trying to put it back and continue, but had to stop to use pliers to try to bend the latch back towards the gear for it to lock into. It held for the 4th mowing, but I fear it won't for long. Seems to be a bad fit? Not sure if I would recommend this product, don't think you should have to repair or 'rig' new items.
I just purchased this mower on sale at the local sears for $189.00 to cut in tight places that my tractor doesn't go. I took it home and fired this baby up "one pull". This mower cut my 1/4 acre with no problems at all. The clean out worked fine for in between cleanings but I will get under the mower with a scrapper periodicly. Self propelling feature feels cheap but sears backs thier products so no worries there. I have not tried mulcher but will as soon as i can. all in all great buy
I bought this mower last weekend after running a Honda Harmony for 10 years. I was impressed with the ease of use and the speed of the mower. I was unsure of how I would like going from a rwd mower to a fwd one- but this mower really goes(on my flat yard). I mulch and granted it has a single blade, it does well. I've yet to try the new cleaning tool, but may comment later. For around $240 before tax (incl Sears card disc), this is a darn good value.
The box was too large for a 4 door Camry, so I had to take it out of the box in the parking lot to fit it in the trunk. They said not to use gas with ethanol in it when running the mower. The 22' area seems big and the cut was nice. It fired right up on the first pull. Has good features and it is user friendly, has a 2 year manufacturer's warranty. The self-propeller is very fast.
before my purchase i did some research on this mower. at first i was somewhat afraid that it would not perform like the previous craftman lawn mower that i owned for 10 years. but after the first use it has been great the only reason i would not give it 5 stars is the bag itself is to small for this size of lawn mower. but i love it, and do highly recommend this product
Overall very nice mower, has a hose attachment to clean out cipping after...very useful feature. The one thing that I am most excited about is the first pull, start. I have yet to have to pull the cord more than once to get it started, without priming.
Good mower, great price...only downfall is that it doesn't have speed control on the auto drive.
Started right up, motor runs great, front right wheel propells but the left one doesn't catch the gear. Saw similar issue on the reivews of the large rear wheel version of this mower. Taking it back.
