This bagger does an exceptional job, especially with the premium mulching blades. Chops grass to extremely small pieces. The installation took approximately 10 minutes and is extremely easy to remove and reinstall. A product well worth the purchase price especially since the yards I mow have to be bagged....

The bagger fit my yard tractor well. I do not care for the fact that I must stop to empty the bagger more ofter that I estimated. (I know I can cut my grass more frequently or on a higher setting to lessen the filling of the bagger, but then it changes the time I spend cutting grass or the look of my lawn.) I do feel that the bagger is durable, light and easy to handle, and looks good on the back of the yard tractor. I am not saying that you should not purchase this bagger, I'm just saying that I would not recommend this bagger because it added more work to my yard days. Additional, I do not have a mulch bin set up yet, so I have to transfer the grass into plastic bags for the landfill. (For me this will soon change, but it is something else for a person to consider.)
...

If it works this superb after a few seasons, then WOW it would be well worth it. I was amazed at all the leaves and grass it collected. The bags are mounted high so you don't have to bend over to remove or clean out. They also put a soft handle on bottom of bag so you can turn it over and dump it real easy. The soft bags are likely better than hard bags as the air flow thru them reduces the movement of collections and they fill the back in a compact way. So far, so good.

One other thing, I got the mulching kit which changes the side chute. I am not sure if I can mount the bagger while this mulching guard is in place....

I would have given it five stars had it not been for the high price. I purchased it on sale for $50 less than MSRP but still feel it is overpriced....

I have had this bagger for all of 3 months before the top cover broke. Worked great and then as I went to empty the bags, noticed that the PLASTIC hinge area had worn through and snapped off. Thank goodness it is under warrenty, but I think that I will be trying to get a refund, because for it to break after only 6 uses is unsettling. Worked fine before though....

This craftsmen bagger is hard to use because the rubber ring was not made well and after just a few uses it will not stay on any longer therefore will no longer keep a seal so all the grass blows onto your neck while mowing. It also does not do a very good job of picking up the grass. And the gauge that is supposed to show when its full does not work at all. I would not recommend this product.
...

I bought this with my 42" tight-turn tractor, and was happy to see that it was already attached when the tractor was delivered. On the second use however, I found that one of the screws attaching the rubber elastic teathers to the grass chute had pulled through the plastic and was lost. I had to walk up and down the yard to find it, and reattached it backwards since there was a washer on the other side that will hopefully hold better. It is a very poor design, and I worry that the elastic will not last that long either, it usually hardens and weakens over time, I forsee a makeshift attachment method in the future. The fit to the mower deck is not very clean either, you have to give it a good shove to get the tab on the deck to go through the slot in the tube. For $299, I would have expected much better quality . This must be a very high profit item for Sears, I'm sure it costs very little to make them, but if you want to bag your grass, you are stuck. The only reason I say I'd...
...

There's not much to say about a bagger, but...

The soft bags are very easy to remove from the mower when they need emptied, they hold a lot more than their appearance would suggest, and they even stand up on their own when loaded with grass.

I had heard that the soft bags are preferable to the hard types, as they allow better air flow and thus the mower is able to pick up more cut grass. I don't have any experience with the hard bags, but I can say that these definitely performed well - the lawn looks like a golf course.

On the rare occasion that the bagging chute would clog (operator error - I was cutting wet, tall grass, with too low of a cut setting), correcting this problem was very easy - everything snaps together and is easy to disassemble, clear, and re-assemble.

If you're considering a bagging option for your mower, I would recommend these.
...

Used on .6 acre lot and works well, I should of bought the 3 bag system instead. This unit still performs well. Easy storage and setup onto tractor. Used to pick up thatch on lawn after dethatching, works with ease. Would be great if you have a small lawn! Also, if your lawn is a little wet, the tube may become clogged. It is a pain to unclogg it. Best to use when the lawn is dry.
...

This thing is amazing!! Very impressive the amount of grass that it can hold. I definitely recommend the soft bags over the hard - they are easier to empty. The simple flap closure-thingy is so amazingly easy to use. I've used mine for a year and it's a champ.

I just want to clarify some of the other reviews -

Bad idea to put lawn bags on the inside of it - the vented air allows for better grass flow into the bins and leaves less of it on the ground.

I second the notion that you shouldn't put your deck too low so that you optimize air flow into the grass chute. I leave mine on 4 (out of 6).

I came back from vacation with 3 weeks of lawn growth. Many parts of the lawn had a foot of growth. With almost an acre of lawn, I didn't want to spend hours raking and hauling after mowing. $300 is a bit much for this product, but if it could do the job, it would be worth it.

It went together in just a few minutes - there's nothing complex about the setup. My first test on the lawn was a major fail. It would clog every 10 yards. I spent probably two hours trying to mow. No particular height/speed combination would work. After packing it up for the night I gave it a go the next day. I just happen to pull the blades off the mower and noticed that they were upside down - apparently, my mower came that way and every time I took the blades off to sharpen, I put them back on just as I had found them.

With the blades installed correctly, this thing is a champ. It went through the highest thickest grass and bagged it with no problem. The bags filled every 5 minutes or so, but that was to be expected...
...

I purchased this bagger as it was a recommended attachment for the Craftsman 42" lawn tractor I bought last year. In fact, the bagger model number is listed on the inside of the hood of my tractor. Unfortunately, and for some still unknown reason, my tractor did not come with the shoulder bolts that are required for installation. An email into Sears was answered with a redirection to their parts website where I could purchase the right parts. This answer was completely unacceptable and I told them so - still no response from that email however. My attempt to jury-rig a fix with quarter inch bolts, lock washers, nuts and washers has only been partially successful. The nuts are difficult to fully tighten due to tight spaces and the vibrations from the tractor unscrews the nuts. Right now, I have many hidden bolts and such in my lawn. I will call Sears to complain this week and try to use the extended warranty on the tractor to get the issue fixed.
...

This bagger is fantastic. I have had a Craftsman tractor for almost 4 years and had noticed my lawn was dieing fast. I realized that this was due to excessive thatch. I've raked that all out, and need a bagger to stop this happening again.

The bagger went together in around 10 minutes, it would have been 5, but my tractor is an oder model that required the reinforcement plate installing (supplied).

First use, and it woked like a dream sucking up almost anything that it passed over. Easy to assemble, use, empty. Perfect.

The only slight negative is that the guage to tell you it needs emptying doesn't really work, so i tend to lean back and poke each bag to guage the fullness, so this doesnt concern me at all.

Great attachment, cant recommend it enough.
...

This Bagger is Awesome! It is definately very dusty. I would recommend wearing a dust mask. I was covered in dirt the first time I used it. But that being said it picked up stuff in my yard I didn't even know was there. If your mower doesn't have the tab on the chute make sure to put on the metal plate that comes with it.

Now that being said here's the bad news. Sears is advertising this bagger $389.99 regular price. On sale for $299.99. They also have a handy 5% rebate if you don"t use the 12 month interest free deal. Then they also advertise another 15% rebate. This will bring your final price down to $239.99 supposedly. Heres the problem. The 15% rebate is only available on regular priced items. So I sent in my rebate only to get an e-mail back telling me that my rebate will not be honored because I did not pay regular price for my bagger. I visited my local Sears store and pointed this out and they were pretty much speechless. They agreed with me and refunded me $60. So if you want...
...

I didn't put 5 stars just because not being a vacuum bagging system it still takes a bit of work and understanding in order to have it working right but frankly this thing is great. I bought a brand new tractor at the sears outlets the DYS 4500 24HP from last year for just $1199, after using half day with satisfaction I realized that a bagging system was indispensable. I assembled it in 5 minutes and I found out that in order to have the maximum functionality you need to keep the blades system high. This way more air will flow-in and this will have greatly in order to avoid congestion in the tube. Yes the left bag fill first but once it is fool the second bag fills so don't need to worry about that. If the air flow is good the tubes will not get grass stuck in it.
Mine attached PERFECTLY to my tractor, it is really tight. People complaining about this either have an older tractor or didn't do the right installation. When I was keeping the blades mid level I had to disassemble the tubes......

I'm glad I ordered this item. It's been a real back and work saver! Easy to install, fits well, and does a good job of picking up leaves and grass. Not so hot on pine straw, though. And it's very dusty. Have to wear a mask when using it. But, it's easy to empty and does the job ten times faster than doing it by hand.
Wish the bins were bigger, but, other than that, I'm a happy camper!...

I bought this grass catcher at the same time I purchased my 24HP Craftsman Professional Lawn Tractor. The fit of the tube to the deck is near perfect.
I haven't plugged mine yet, but I am aware from previous grass catcher experiences that trying to cut too much thick wet grass will stop up the tube. This even happens with walk-behind catchers. The only choice is cut off a little at a time.
The grass catcher frame could use a better way to keep it attached to the tractor. At it is, it relies mostly on gravity. There is a flimsy spring strap, but it does not stay in the hole like it is supposed to. It vibrates out. While this form of attachment makes it easy to attach and remove the grass catcher frame from the tractor, it also requires the grass catcher to be removed during trailer transport, else hitting bumps will throw it off....
