“6" Drill Press Vise”

Solid and high quality. The movement of the slides in both directions was stiff and difficult but expect it will become smooth with additional use. “Not impressed”

This vise may work well for wood working with very loose tolerances, but for metal work it it useless.  It had a backlash of over 1mm in both X and Y directions, and both directions were difficult to adjust.  I followed directions for cleaning and adjusting ways to no avail.  The handles are also...

“The only truly good thing about this vise is that it is heavy.”

When received the vise ways, dovetails, were terribly out of adjustment. After adjusting and lubricating the friction was too much for smooth motion. The shims used for the ways were made of plain steel which wasn’t very well ground. I replace these with brass shims which provide much less friction and much smoother operation. This vise is a good place to start if you want to rebuild it. For the price I expected better. However SEARS did put it on sale after I bought it and did refund the difference.

“Amazing, I use it as a makeshift milling machine”

This Vise was the replacement for a HarborFreight X/Y vise which came with my Drill press when i bought it used(Craftsman floor standing 1 1/2HP).

This is as close as I can get to having a milling machine for wood, Ive made multiple guitar necks with this. very durable and very precise. The HarborFreight one is no comparison.

A little more than I wanted to spend, but well woth it, especially in correlation with the 6 pc clamp set to attach it to the drill press.

“6" drill press vise--8" travel, X & Y”

I've shopped several stores for a similar vise. All I found was some very cheap, slipshod foreign manufacture for the most part. The Sears vise is quality equipment. I'm very happy I bought it.

“Splendid”

It's BIG and havy and very stable and deffinately cost its money. You can use it as plain vise or on a drill stand. Just don't forget - it's not going to fit small 10" drill stands. BUY it!!! you'll never regret.
