Craftsman 7 In. Wet Saw —
Ok so I am helping a friend put a bathroom in his basement.
The floor is 12" ceramic tile and the walls are tiled up to 4'.
The wall tiles are 6" x 6".
I needed a saw because there were many cuts. We had rented one to do the the floor the one we rented was a commercial type saw. It worked ok but what a mess it made spuing water everywhere. I saw this one on line at Sears and figured what the heck for $79.00 I would take a chance. So off I went to Sears with a gift card I got for Christmas. Today I used it and I must disagree with others that say you have to keep refiling it with water. I cut 23 wall tiles before I had to add water and mind you it was not out of water I just wanted to top it off.
Compared to the commercial saw we rented this did the same thing and no mess. The cost to rent the saw was $35.00 for 4 hours, so spending $79.00 and I own it is a much better deal.
It has pleanty of power and wall tile cuts very nice with it.
I also had to cut a couple of pieces of floor tile and that too went great. Others have commented about getting wet while using this saw, the only way that could happen is if they did not adjust the blade guard correctly. I did not get wet at all and there was no mess. As for the comments of the cheesy fence that I will agree with however I used it many many times today and mine did not break of course you still must be easy with it as it is made from plastic. The blade guard is black plastic someone said it should be clear not a bad idea until you cut your first piece then you would not be able to see through the clear plastic because of the water and dust that would collect from cutting tile.
If you do handy work this is the perfect saw. It appears that it should hold up for a long time and should continue to work well even after hundreds of cuts. Lightweight, easy to use, easy to setup and it even has a handle so carrying it is great too. As for cleaning it up I just rinsed it off and rinsed the inside well in a big mop sink and wiped it down.
$79.00 does not usally buy too much these days but I think this it worth the price makes the job go much faster as apposed to using a manual tile cutter. Hope this review has helped good luck and happy tiling!!!!!!!
