Not magic, but better than raking

I bought this product a couple hours ago at the store.  Had to take the floor model, as they misquoted the inventory on their computer.  That probably was a good thing, as I didn't have to hassle with assembly.  No manual, but didn't need it.

As others have said, this is not a high quality product,...

I purchased the Craftsman 7 cu. ft Push Lawn Sweeper and after 5 minutes of use realized that it is not worth anything.  It picked up leaves for a 10 foot area and then the leaves in the hopper blocked the rest of the leaves from entering the hopper.  I had to push the leaves back and down in the...

I have been using this lawn sweeper for a couple of years now and it is great.  I can't imagine taking care of the lawn without it.  I powers through leaves and puts leaves small sticks and grass clippings into the back hopper very easily.  The hopper holds enough leaves to fill about half of a lawn refuse bag about half way packed down.  It works best with dry leaves and with leaves that are not too thickly piled up.  The depth is easy to set on the front.  You can set it high to get loose leaves on top of the grass or set lower to get grass clippings.  I see the neighbors spending hours...

Have just purchased this and have used it to clean up acorns and twigs from the yard. Does a decent job, although takes a lot of trial and error to set it to the optimal height. Best on level ground. Takes a few passes. Also, during assembly, paint chipped off like crazy.

Does the job

It does a great job on concrete or on lawn that is not long.

But if your lawn is long, it is very hard to push it through (it's loke combing it).

Also, do not wait too long for using it, as it fills out fast and if you have to stop every few steps to empty it, it is not worth it.

But it does the job nice and as intended.

Excellent Choice

I hesitated buying this sweeper because of the negative reviews I read.  It really did the job.  I'm 64 and my lawn is uneven.  Last weekend using a leaf blower and vacuum we spent about 4 hours clearing the lawn and I was exhausted..  This weekend with the sweeper we did it in half the time.  I was tired only because I'm out of shape for that much walking.  We don't cut our lawn - we have a service that does it but the service ends before the lawn is really loaded with leaves.  It was easy to pick up the areas where there were a lot of leaves but then I took my time and lowered the dial...

The craftsman lawn sweeper has been a great investment.  It saves me a lot of time and I no longer have to rake my lawn(which seems to be the one yard all the leaves want to collect in!)  We now have more time for our family.

It does it's job.

It does a decent job of picking up the leaves. The lawn isn't perfect, but for time time I spent pushing the lawn sweeper around (approximately one quarter the time I usually spend raking), it's well worth it. It's great for picking up most of the leaves in the middle of the fall season. I'm sure I'll have to go back and touch up with the rake once all the leaves fall, but it won't take nearly as long this year. It works very well on even ground particularly if the grass is cut evenly as well. I found that I spent a lot of time adjusting the level of the brushes because my lawn is far from perfect.... read full review »

Worst piece of junk

I just bought this appliance to quickly finish my fall cleaning. During the setup I realize that the nuts and bolts don't even fit each other! Are you kidding me?? That is the basics of any appliance. Forget whether it works or not. The nuts and bolts need to fit each other....at least. I am returning this piece of junk.

Good for the money

This sweeper works well for the price...if you have a bigger yard just be prepared to spend a lot of time dumping. At least it's light enough to just turn upside down to dump, otherwise you'd spend more time removing and replacing the bag than actually picking up leaves. With this said, it does a great job at picking up leaves and grass. Watch out for sticks and brush though, as they will clog up the process. All in all, I'm happy with my purchase. It beats the heck out of raking.

Lawn Sweeper

This is a very nice product of Craftsman. It is so much better than raking up leaves or even better than using a blower. With this you can control where the leaves go better than you can a blower. It takes a little time to do it and it is a sort of work out but like I said before, better than raking. It doesn't pick up all the leaves but who really cares. Also it picks up pine needles just as well. There's several adjustments on it and is easy to adjust. The assembly isn't that bad either. One issue I have and probably the only one is like everyone else has mentioned is, "It would be nice if the... read full review »

minimizes work

I bought this on sale a few weeks ago and really put it to the test yesterday!! We have 2 huge oak trees out front, and we share our yard with our townhouse neighbors. 90% of the oak leaves fell this past week plus about 3 days of rain and mist. Read--thick, heavy wet pile of leaves. As I am the main yard clean-up person, I was so glad to get out there with my new sweeper. My neighbor and her husband were using a blower and rake for their half. I used my sweeper for much of ours. I had to go over the small front section many times to fill a yard barrel about 6 times, but it was so much better than... read full review »

Lawn Sweeper

I have a very large and a very messy weeping willow tree in my backyard. I don't like bagging the grass under it or blowing the leaves. I hated raking it, even though I could use the exercise. This does a great job. It doesn't get every leaf, but it gets about 90% of them which doesn't matter since there's going to be more within the hour. Saves lots of time.

Clean Sweep!

I used this product for the first time yesterday and it worked quite well. We have a large sweeper, also from Sears, which we tow behind a lawn tractor. Unfortunately, the tractor needs repair so this sweeper will have big shoes to fill. Initial use of the product shows promise as it sweeps well but must be adjusted correctly for a combination of ease-of-use and effective sweeping. An evenly cut lawn helps a lot! Should the brushes be set too low you will not be able to push the sweeper. Some time spent tinkering witht the brush height is important and not difficult. Considering I am no novice... read full review »
