For the price and saving me from raking, it works great. We have a lot of leaves, we live in the middle of 5 acres of trees with our house and lawn carved out so remember this when I tell you we have a lot of leaves. It takes us, a couple of sweeps across the lawn but it does pick them up. It did not work in the spring when the leaves had been panked down with the winter snow. I think it works best if the grass isn't long and the leaves are dry.. Our lawn looks great and all it takes is walking and dumping the leaves. I recommend it.
...

My husband an I purchased this sweeper on Saturday (11/5/11), and we returned it the very same day! I hate to say it was all my idea, I was trying to make things easier for us but boy was I wrong!! The other reviews which complained on how difficult to put together it is were completely accurate. The screws and bolts fit together so tightly that they seem not to belong together. Also one of the wheels had fallen off in the box, and I know both wheels were supposed to be already attached. Okay we didn't let this keep us from proceeding, so once it was all done we took it outside only to find out the thing does not work well at all! It did pick up leaves but you must pass over an area several times and even doing that there were still leaves there! In addition the bag is so shallow that it filled up very quickly. Half of your time will be spent dumping the bag! We ended up putting the sweeper in the truck and getting out our rakes!! It was a complete waste of time!! I know most......

Was very difficult to assemble because the screws and the nuts were very tight. I had to use WD40 to get them to work. Then the handle that goes together was extremely tight and I needed a rubber mallet. Craftsman should be ashamed of themselves. You can tell the quality of the parts is garbage.

Then when I use the thing, the bag is so small that I constantly have to stop to empty it (my leaves have just started to fall, so I can't imagine once there is a lot of leaves). The leaves also get jammed in the sweeping mechanism.

This product is a great idea, and I've seen other people use non Craftsman ones and they worked great.
...

I got this last year, it makes fall clean up go much faster. Picks up the leaves leaving the grass completly clear. So much faster than raking, just push and tip out. Not good if the leaves are wet, tends to jam up. Overall a great time saver.
...

Have just purchased this and have used it to clean up acorns and twigs from the yard. Does a decent job, although takes a lot of trial and error to set it to the optimal height. Best on level ground. Takes a few passes. Also, during assembly, paint chipped off like crazy....

It does a great job on concrete or on lawn that is not long.

But if your lawn is long, it is very hard to push it through (it's loke combing it).

Also, do not wait too long for using it, as it fills out fast and if you have to stop every few steps to empty it, it is not worth it.

I bought this product a couple hours ago at the store. Had to take the floor model, as they misquoted the inventory on their computer. That probably was a good thing, as I didn't have to hassle with assembly. No manual, but didn't need it.

As others have said, this is not a high quality product, but treated with care, I think it will get the job done for me for a while and for the price, it's nice to have around. After taking it across deep leaves, stone paths and tall grass, I find that the most important thing to know is how to decide at what height to set the brushes. I found myself changing them to a lower setting after one or two passes to do a better job. Still, walking around twice or even three times to collect them beats raking the whole yard. I do still have to rake the beds. The collecting bag fills quickly, and I set up a system of emptying several bags onto a tarp, and then taking the tarp to the street.

I do wonder how long the bottom of the bag will last,...
...

I have been using this lawn sweeper for a couple of years now and it is great. I can't imagine taking care of the lawn without it. I powers through leaves and puts leaves small sticks and grass clippings into the back hopper very easily. The hopper holds enough leaves to fill about half of a lawn refuse bag about half way packed down. It works best with dry leaves and with leaves that are not too thickly piled up. The depth is easy to set on the front. You can set it high to get loose leaves on top of the grass or set lower to get grass clippings. I see the neighbors spending hours raking leaves in the frong lawn and I can walk around the yard get all the leaves in less than an hour. Best part - No more raking!
...

I purchased the Craftsman 7 cu. ft Push Lawn Sweeper and after 5 minutes of use realized that it is not worth anything. It picked up leaves for a 10 foot area and then the leaves in the hopper blocked the rest of the leaves from entering the hopper. I had to push the leaves back and down in the hopper to do another 10 foot area, repeat and repeat then the hopper was full. I did a 20' x 6' area in 5 minutes and there were still a lot of leaves on the ground. Didn't save me time or my back from bending. Don't waste your time or money with this. Might work great for immature trees and very few leaves, but I have 20 year old trees and leaves that get 2-3" thick. It didn't do the job I had hoped.
...

I hesitated buying this sweeper because of the negative reviews I read. It really did the job. I'm 64 and my lawn is uneven. Last weekend using a leaf blower and vacuum we spent about 4 hours clearing the lawn and I was exhausted.. This weekend with the sweeper we did it in half the time. I was tired only because I'm out of shape for that much walking. We don't cut our lawn - we have a service that does it but the service ends before the lawn is really loaded with leaves. It was easy to pick up the areas where there were a lot of leaves but then I took my time and lowered the dial and cleaned up the yard better than the younger neighbors did on their lawn. It was easy to empty. I just grabbed the handle on the bottom and turned it upside down. The capacity in the bag is sufficient to gather up a big enough area. I'm really happy that I bought it. It wasn't difficult to put together. I've never written a review before but I felt I should so that someone reading...
...

It does a decent job of picking up the leaves. The lawn isn't perfect, but for time time I spent pushing the lawn sweeper around (approximately one quarter the time I usually spend raking), it's well worth it. It's great for picking up most of the leaves in the middle of the fall season. I'm sure I'll have to go back and touch up with the rake once all the leaves fall, but it won't take nearly as long this year.

It works very well on even ground particularly if the grass is cut evenly as well. I found that I spent a lot of time adjusting the level of the brushes because my lawn is far from perfect.

If you're looking for something that will make your lawn pristine, this isn't the product for you. But if you're concerned about using electric or gas powered equipment, don't mind putting a little muscle into caring for your lawn, and don't mind touching up with a rake, this is a good product to have in your shed. It's not for everyone, but I like it, and have already recommended it to others.......

I bought this on sale a few weeks ago and really put it to the test yesterday!! We have 2 huge oak trees out front, and we share our yard with our townhouse neighbors. 90% of the oak leaves fell this past week plus about 3 days of rain and mist. Read--thick, heavy wet pile of leaves. As I am the main yard clean-up person, I was so glad to get out there with my new sweeper. My neighbor and her husband were using a blower and rake for their half. I used my sweeper for much of ours. I had to go over the small front section many times to fill a yard barrel about 6 times, but it was so much better than raking that heavy mat of leaves!!!! (been there, done that too) Much kinder on my back, neck, shoulders and forearms (all memorable aches from past years that I don't have today). The sweeper also went over a patch of thin layer of crispy maple leaves in one to two passes. Whole yard not done yet, but will be easily attacked with main part completed.

The only issue I had was having to keep scooping......

Pros: It is faster than a manual rake. Decent price. Good for getting the loose stuff up quickly.

Cons: Make sure you see this assembled before buying. Any shoddier of construction (materials) and it would have broke up taking out of the box. Brush housing is very thin plastic, leaf catcher bag is also ultra light / thin material. Hope you have a bagging mower - you'll still need to do another pass with it.

Years ago Parker Company made a very high quality manual push sweeper but no more.

Sears should really consider offering a higher quality model of better construction. I'd have been happy to pay more, but nothing any better available. Agri Fab offers one but appears identical to Sears. Both types probably the same but with different labels.

In summary, yes, the thing works 'ok' but will it last you 3 years????

Sears needs to offer a higher quality model!!...

I used this product for the first time yesterday and it worked quite well. We have a large sweeper, also from Sears, which we tow behind a lawn tractor. Unfortunately, the tractor needs repair so this sweeper will have big shoes to fill. Initial use of the product shows promise as it sweeps well but must be adjusted correctly for a combination of ease-of-use and effective sweeping. An evenly cut lawn helps a lot! Should the brushes be set too low you will not be able to push the sweeper. Some time spent tinkering witht the brush height is important and not difficult. Considering I am no novice to the use of tools or assembly of a product like this I did have a little trouble. There was a bit of ambiguity in the intructions regarding placement of the bag clips and some of the 1/4 x 20 nuts and bolts fit together extremely tightly (not cross threaded) making assembly difficult. Hence, the one star demotion. Also, the sweeper housing is made of plastic which does not support the handle well.......

This sweeper works well for the price...if you have a bigger yard just be prepared to spend a lot of time dumping. At least it's light enough to just turn upside down to dump, otherwise you'd spend more time removing and replacing the bag than actually picking up leaves. With this said, it does a great job at picking up leaves and grass. Watch out for sticks and brush though, as they will clog up the process. All in all, I'm happy with my purchase. It beats the heck out of raking....
