My brother works for Sears and recommended this product. I am very happy that I purchased the 3 bin vs. the 2 bin. I don't have to empty as often. My brother says that most people that buy the 2 bin always wish they had bought the 3 bin.

However, there is one down fall to this product. Looking from the back, the left bin fills up first. Therefore, this bin is the heaviest and falls through the supports. The bin will then dump lawn clippings all over your lawn. I read another review about this problem before purchased this product and indeed, it is a problem.

I did two things to rectifiy the problem. I load the bins from right to left instead of left to right (like the directions tell you to do.) Second, I put a long strip of velcro on each side of the left bin. These two things create more friction and prevent that bin from falling through. Since I have done this, the bin has not fallen through.

Overall, I'm extremely happy with the product. It works well and is easy to......

Easy to assemble, all hardware included. Took less than ten minutes to mount on the mower.

Bins are plastic and easily washed, The total capacity of the bins combined is nine bushels but are separated into three easy to manage interchangeable compartments.

The pickup tube from the mower deck is two separate pieces that fit together easily into the bagger housing.

Only two problems in the whole thing is the bolts that hold the pickup tube elastic bands to the ejection port are reinforced with small washers and are easily pulled through the plastic if you accidentally hook something. I changed the washers to one inch washers to beef it up against pull through. The other minor problem is the red fill indicator stopped working after two, three hundred foot passes. It would be nice to have a way to fix it but I noticed the grass falls out of the bagger when it is full.
...

I've had this bagger now for 3 years and have had nothing but trouble with it. The only time it will pickup clippings is when the grass is bone dry and already short before cutting. If the grass is in the least bit wet or long, forget it. I have to cut my lawn, and then go over it a second time to pick up the clippings. Even then it still leaves at least 1/3 of the clippings on the lawn I think my craftsman mower is great, but the bagger is a big waste of money and and time. Don't waste yours with this product!!!
...

Best money I ever spent. I had read the reviews before I purchased and was a little worried about the bags not all filling so I wasn't surprised when it happened. However, I found the solution. Let the bagger fill and keep mowing so the leaves are muclched. Once the yard is done empty the bagger and go back over the yard. The mulched leaves pack evenly and allow you to fill the entire compartment. You'll make less trips dumping the bags and get at least 12 bushels each haul because everything packs so well.
...

We were very pleased with this product. It was easy to install and easier to use. It only took us 15 minutes to install and all we needed was a 9/16ths wrench. Removing the original bolts from the mower and putting in the shoulder bolts was kind of a tight squeeze between the bolts and the rear tires, so my ratchet didn't work, but a flat wrench worked just fine.

The primary reason we purchased this bagger was to pick up leaves since our house is completely surrounded by maples and oaks. The biggest challenge was knowing when to empty the bags, which really was dependent upon how many leaves were on the ground. If you waited too long to empty it, the tube would get clogged, so you'd have to turn the mower off and unclog it. It was easy to do, but just took a couple extra minutes. You could tell when it clogged because it left a trail of mulched leaves, but after a few rounds around the yard we figured out how often to empty it and it saved a lot of back breaking raking.

We found......

I bought this bagger for my new PYT 24hp 42" tractor. The 46 inch width does not interfere with close work except for one sign post in the yard. I just stay back a bit and use the weed trimmer. I'm happy I decided to go with the 3-bag unit. The stock blades that came with the tractor provide ample "lift" to fill all 3 bags. The one to the left fills first, followed by the center, then the right. Not sure if the latching system on the overhead cover will hold over time, so I will monitor this closely. If the cover is not fully latched, the grass clippings will blow out over the bags. I love the dual handles on each of the bags, and this makes for very easy removal and emptying. The bags go on, and come off with little effort. Make sure to clean the exhaust vents each time you empty the bags. There is some blow-by around the main seal if the vents get clogged. The little red wheel that is supposed to let you know when the bagger is full is not a big help so just feel...
...

Very quick and easy to assemble. I just got done mowing for the first time this season. My yard had some leaves left over from last fall. The leaves and grass clippings fell nicely into the bins. As described, the left most bin fills first, then the middle, and finally the right most bin fills last. Extremely easy to remove the bags and empty them!...

Second bagger unit I have owned.

Upside:

(1) 3 bags and third bag is gettig filled.

(2) Has not clogged on me yet.

Downside:

(1) Frame attachment came with hitch pin welded to bottom of frame, which then goes through tractor frame. This is no good. Too attach a dump cart, this would require me to remove bagger frame from tractor! I removed welded hitch pin and replaced with regular old hitch pin. Now I can keep bagger frame on tractor and easily attach dump cart. No idea why Sears has hitch pin welded to bottom of bagger frame.

(2)No problem yet, but suspect plastic frame around catch bags going to split for break over time. Wish bag frame had been metal.

(3) Bags are a little small in my opinion. Was disappointed in their length but guess helps keep full bag weight down.

Good overall although never understand how this plastic devices cost so much money. Crazy....

I have to admit, I was skeptical of this product, I was pondering the purchase of either a cyclone rake, which costs $1500.00 plus tax or one of the Sears tow behind mulcher vacuum for tractors, I am glad, I did not buy either. This unit is great for a yard of 1/2 to 1 acre. What used to take me all day raking, blowing with a heavy leaf blower, that I had to rent from a rental, lugging to and from rental store. Now only takes me a couple of hours, sure I have to stop , empty bags, but it beats the misery of what I used to go through. If your looking for economical alternative to the expensive machines, that our bulky, heavy, and expensive, then I suggest get this bagger........I am now a beleiver, the other bad reviews, are probably people who expected performance, like a tow behind mulcher and vacuum, well of course those are better at sucking up the leaves and mulching, but they are all expensive.......This will do the job and you can put the rest of the money for a rainy day........Thanks......

Love it but hate the fact the left side bag falls off almost every mow. I have gotten used to knowing where it may happen now and I just move the end bag to the middle about every 1/3 of my .5 acre lot.

I too was disapointed about the service I had from Sears because there was nothing they would do.

Oh well, lesson learned...I do like having the baggers though....

I had to loosen two bolts (already in the mower) and the rest fit right on.
If I had rated this a year ago, after using the bagger for a month or so, I probably would have rated it as 4 stars. After having used it for a year I can only give this product 1 star. My first hint should have been when I had to have it delivered 3 times as the first two came with cracked tops.

The catcher does fill from left to right as each bag fills. After time, the weight of the left bag has caused the left support pole to bend out. The support bars are not a heavy enough gauge to support the weight of full bags. This makes the catcher sit uneven with the left bag hanging lower. This has had several negative effects. First, the bag hits the ground when I go through even a gradual dip in the yard. This causes the bag to bottom out and be lifted off of the support bars and onto the ground spilling half of the bag on the lawn. Because the assembly is leaning down, the support bars are also leaning down which will also allow the bag to fall off. I had to use bungee cords attached to......

Just bought the 3 bin soft bagger for my DYS4500 Tractor. Couldn't be happier !!!
Easy to install. All components fit together nicely and has a real solid feel (I'm not scared that everyting will come apart at the first little bump).
It works like a dream! Each bag filled up in succession as they should. Removing the bins and dumping the grass was snap. All grass clippings were well contained.
The only drawbacks I can think of at this point are:
1) in order to open the rear bagger cover, you need to flip up the tractor seat (not that big of a deal)
2) the bin-full indicator is a little red spinning wheel. Not the most accurate thing. Your better off simply reaching back and padding the righ-most grass bag. if it feels full, you know the other two are and it's time to empty.
This was my first time using it. I did have several clogs, however, I must add that my lawn was approximately 4 - 5 times taller than I would normally mow. Under normal grass cutting conditons, no clogging occurs.

Most of the time, the bagger works great with my LT2000. However, the chute really, really, really needs something to fasten it more securely to the place where the tab is on other models. I can put the chute where it needs to be, but it slips during mowing, and then some grass escapes. I'm going to look into hooks to go into the slot and string or rope to go around the hinge of the leaf deflector or whatever it's called.
Anyway, when it works, it's absolutely wonderful. It's like magic! I'm mulching my garden patch for next spring with my grass and leaf clippings from this fall, and it'd be about 20 times as hard to do this without the bagger!...

I spent a lot of time reading the other reviews before I bought this bagger for my LT1000 and finally decided to buy it. For the past 5 years, I sucked up leaves with a Black and Decker Vac and Mulch which took all day, so I finally decided to try this out.
It only took me about 10 minutes to assemble, and unlike other reviews, I thought the instructions were pretty simple to understand- just use your common sense. I have a bunch of leaves with no place to dump them, so I use 30 gal. trash bags to line the bins, and I am more than happy with the results. I do have to stop to compress the leaves when the bins are about 3/4 full, but one stop is enough to make sure the bags are really full.
Anyone who wrote a review complaining about this product probably just lacks common sense to make it work, because it has saved me hours, and it is a very solid bagger for the money....

Bought the bagger and the LT 2000 at the same time. The two work great together. It's so easy to use. When loading and unloading the bags slide in and out. When you tip the bag to empty, there are handles underneath. What an awesome feature! Craftsman is the best!...
