Can't go wrong...

Was on a business trip in March, and when I heard we received over 2 ft. of snow in my area I couldn't bare to shovel again.. I had enough! Well after reading some reviews and speaking to some friends I went with this machine. And so far so good! When I came home from my trip there was over 2ft of snow/ice/slush... read full review »

DO NOT BUY!!!

I have this snow blower for the second year now. Last year I used it about three times and always had problems with the chute. This year I went to use for the first time and the Electric starter would not work. I called Sears and they said that they were backed up with their service and it would take... read full review »

9 hp Snow Thrower

We have received more snow than the usual this season and with a new vacation place in Utah did not have a blower. The snow had piled up to six feet on the 1200 sq feet of decking and was concerned about a collapse. Most places in town were sold out of their stock snow blowers and Sears had one left of the 9hp model, I got lucky. Easy to set up and with the electric start makes a big difference in zero degrees. The blower went though the high piled snow pretty easily except it wanted to climb up the mound so some strong arming was needed to keep it down. It throws snow at least 20' pretty easily.... read full review »

Great thrower

I have run this through several snow storms now and love it. Plows through anything including end of driveway plowed up snow. Throws snow far with lots of power and starts easily. Easy use. Shoot could be made to be turned a little farther to the rear for better aiming and is made of plastic. If you have stones I would stay away from this unit. Shear pins have to be ordered as they are not in stores. CHANGE THE OIL AFTER 2 HOURS as it indicates for break in period.

Great machine

Working a business job has me working odd hours sometimes so I always had professional snow removal on my 2 acre home. Well now my son has grown so I decided to buy this machine and leave the snow removal up to him.It turns out this is a great machine.Clears out snow with no problem for him.Great buy on my part and I didn't even bother to get the warranty.

5 stars

Decided to upgrade my 14 year old 5hp 24" craftsman, that still started with one pull, for the 9hp 28" model. Purchased the beginning of the snowiest December and with a drive way 16' wide and 250' long it cut my time in half. Starts first pull and the one hand feature allows quick turning of the chute. I expect at least 14 years out of this one. Sold the old one for $125 and the new owner is pleased that he did.

Decent Machine

I purchased this snow thrower about a month ago and gave it a few good workouts. It preformed great but the chute is real cheap and flimsy. I wish it was metal instead of cheap plastic. The problem I have is there is a small gap where the chute attaches to the body that lets some snow blow through it. No big deal. The lock that locks the auger on also broke on mine witch is no big deal because I did not like that feature and was going to disable it anyways. This snow thrower has tons of power and easily blew through 100' of about 2' high of snow the snow plow buried my sidewalk in. My driveway... read full review »

9 HP Craftsman

I just used it for the first time Sunday, Dec 23,2007. We had approx. 4.5 inches. Went through it like butter. Even at curb where snow was clumped and frozen. The only problem was when I got it back in August, I put Ethanol in it. Bad mistake. Cleaned bowl out and freed float and it runs great. Starts on first pull. Pulls itself right along, even on ice up hills. Would buy another one.

Strong Machine

Excellent machine. Handled 7 inches of heavy wet snow with no problem. Long driveway cleared in only 2 round trips; but did a 3rd because it was fun & nice to have a wide path. Did break shear pins already; happy I purchased spares. Changed the oil after 1 hour; it was very dirty. Set my runner height so it doesn't dig into gravel. Perfect size machine; clears fast but still can maneuver by hand. Very happy I went for the 9 h.p. Electric start is a joy.

Purchased machine Jan 3, 2008. First opportunity to run Feb 1, 2008. Machine was quick and simple to set up, took about 20 minutes. Set intake 3/4" off ground to clear gravel in driveway. Had not started engine until Feb 1st. Engine started after about 10 pulls on recoil starter. Engine ran great, plenty of power to spare. A little concerned with shear pins on auger. Friend has similar machine with same shear pin design and has had trouble. No trouble with these yet, (ran machine 1.25 hours this am). Operation was smooth and simple. I do offer a suggestion to the research and developement team;... read full review »

Very good product

Used for few times in Jan. and Feb. Always doubt it would stopped anytime or couldn't start based on some previous reviews. But so far so ggod, easy start, only two pulls after 3 primes (the red soft button); runs great with adequate power (used gear 3~4). The manual suggest change oil after first 2 hours, and did it about less than 3 hours. Couldn't believe how dirty it was, so glad I did it (thought it could be changed later). I guess if you want the machine be trouble free, you have to follow what the manual says. Very happy to have it and wished could get it earlier...

More powerful than expected.

This is an excellent product. It was delivered ready to run, and arrived in perfect condition and at the time it was supposed to arrive. I needed something more powerful than the 5hp model I previously owned because I live on a main highway and the plows really do a number on the end of my driveway. Anyway, all I can say is WOW. This snowblower is so good it even throws water and slush. I love it, and would recommend it to anyone. Go to Sears and get one as soon as possible. Thanks, Joe

Does its job

Got this in December 2007. Been through 2 storms of 6 and 8 inches. Been on 4 LARGE driveways, some with heavy 24inch drifts. This machine was a champ. Never failed after I realined the chute operator handle (initially loose where it meets the chute). Working time has been about 3.5 hours with no problems outside the oil change. chute only plugged once b/c of slush, no broken pins to date.

Wish I could return it

I just used my 9hp Snow Thrower for the first time and I am very disappointed with its performance. I bought on the recommendation from consumer reports and I will never rely on them again. The joystick control for the auger is a joke. It never stays in the position you want and everthing seems to be very flimsy. The thrower also just seems to stop and needs a push to get going again. The other problem is it couldn't handle all the snow and kept leaving trails of snow on the unless I was on speed one, which is so slow it's not worth using. Overall very disappointed with the unit and wish I bought... read full review »

Poorly built

I used this for 2 1/2 storms. During the first storm, the snow blew a hole through the discharge chute and I had have a metal plate put in. The second time another hole was blown in the chute and I had to have another metal patch made. Then during the third storm, I stopped using the blower while I did some shoveling and when i went back to the blower which I had left running it had stalled and the driveshaft was frozen in place. That is a MAJOR, MAJOR repair to have to make. It means 3 to 4 hours of labor and an engine replacement for $650 to $750 - Not a very good situation.
