HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I bought these last year, '08, and have used them commercially on a regular basis and haven't had any trouble out of them. They perform flawlessly and have excellent leverage, snapping larger branches with ease. I've done lot's of crape myrtle's with the greatest of ease. They give a clean precise cut... read full review »

I have taken back and exchanged these loppers close to a dozen times over ten years for various failures. I have an eleven acre farm that is half pasture and half woods. There are several areas that get a lot of trimming and prunning. The loppers operate beautifully for the first month then decrease... read full review »

The Craftsman Anvil Lopping Shears are ok for smaller branches, but anything too big, and either it wont fit or they are not strong enough to cut it.  If it fits, they work good. I would say that because the blade is straight, it is harder to cut with than one with a rounded blade. I have both kinds and both are Craftsman. Even my young son can cut branches with them, so I would recommend these.

MADE CUTTING SHRUBS & TREE BRANCHES A BREEZE

Posted on Feb 11, 2012

I picked these up as a replacement to the shears I broke previouly. These shears work well so far. I say so far as I tend to break loppers on a regular basis. I usually break handles but have also shattered a blade. Any way, these are standing up to my use. I don't know what the other are complaining about as these loppers are holding up well. I don't know what size branches they are cutting but if they don't fit in the anvil loppers you should think about getting a saw. I liked them enough to get a second pair when they were a Sears "Today's Real Deal."

Broke within first hour of use

I received this unit as a replacement for an older Craftsman model that had a broken handle.  The new unit seized after cutting roughly 30 branches.  I could not budge the handles open or closed.  Returned and got a different model.

So far, I am very happy and well satisfied with my Craftsman Anvil Lopping Shears purchase. I got them at a great price and for all practical purposes, I believe they will serve me well.  Although I've not had much of an opportunity to take advantage or make use of these shears yet, they appear to be made quite well.  Perhaps they wouldn't be my first choice for performing professional shearing jobs, but then again I don't know what would be or how a pair of heavy duty professional shears would cost, but for my 5 acre parcel of land, they should prove to be invaluably handy.  I'm looking forward...

The handles are not attached well, and they fell off. Some plastic holder inside the handle broke. Could not be repaired. I hope they will give me my money back, because it's not worth exchanging, it'd just break again.

Does the job very well

I ordered the Craftsman Anvil Lopping Shears this afternoon and picked them up locally.  I was pleasantly surprised to see that they did not look like the picture that is in the advertisement.  They are red and over 2 ft long in length.

I picked them up on my way home from work and when I arrived home I thought I would test them out on a camellia tree I was planning on getting rid of ths weekend.  Well... I ended up cutting the tree down right then and there, LOL.  These shears made short work of that camellia tree, no pun intended.  I cut all the branches off and then cut those into smaller...

Not bad for loppers

What can you say, they cut and so far they are holding up. Wish they had longer handled loppers. I had a pair with long handles but the spring broke and couldn't get a replacement. Don't remember where I bought them. So went over to my local Sears and found these.

Unable to cut large limbs

Returned it and bought a larger heavier lopper at a competitor for slightly higher cost.
